Two classic malt whiskies on an elegant serving tray with
two glasses for sipping!
Laphroaig – Laird of the Islay malts. The most powerful of
the Islay malts with huge peaty flavor overlaying a sweet
malt whiskey. Distrilled in relatively small stills facing the
sea. In 1847 its founder died after falling into a vat of
partially made whiskey – what a way to go!! Color: Full,
refractive gold. Nose: Medicinal, phenolic, seaweedy, with
a hint of sweetness. Finish: Round and very dry.
www.laphroaig.com. Benriach – a pure Highland malt from
the Speyside district. A light whiskey with touches of
butterscotch. Not bad for a wee dram in the afternoon to
take the chill off – restorative. Color: Pale, bright gold.
Nose: Light, clean, honey, flowery dryness. Body: Light,
smooth textured. Finish: Butterscotch sweetness and then
drying and thinning to appetizing, light and honeyish, fresh
and well defined. (Descriptions adapted from the 4th Edition
