Canon is pleased to launch a new EF Lens – EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM super telephoto lens.
The lens will be available for sale on 8 August (Friday).
The new EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM is the world’s longest focal length lens* with optical Image
Stabilizer. The lens is being developed in response to requests for a high-performance lens
that offers a longer focal length from professionals in sports and news photography.
EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM incorporates the latest generation of Canon's Image Stabilizer that
offers stabilization performance equivalent to a shutter speed four-stop faster. It gives
photographers an enormous advantage for handheld shooting even at 800mm. Its
state-of-the-art optical system consists of 2 large diameter fluorite lens elements as well as
Super UD and UD lens elements, achieving not only excellent chromatic aberration correction
for high-resolution, high-contrast shooting performance, but also a length virtually the same
as EF 600mm f/4L IS USM. By utilizing lightweight yet durable magnesium alloy lens barrel
with enhanced resistance to water droplets and dust, EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM weights only
4,500g, 16% lighter than EF 600mm f/4L IS USM.
EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM is well-suited for a wide variety of long-range photo applications
such as wildlife and nature photography as well as sports and documentary photojournalism.
