Edison’s efforts were naught however, as alternating current prevailed as the superior and cost-effective system, yet his demonstrations led to the invention of the electric chair and his direct current is still used in nearly all modern electronic devices today. “THE DARKNESS WITHIN” Feature Film GOAL PRODUCTIONS / SHADOWLAND 1905 Victory Blvd., Ste 6, Glendale, CA 91201 STATUS: November 5 LOCATION: Los Angeles PRODUCER: Ken Sanders - Robert Ballo DIRECTOR: Jeff Hare [email protected] PHONE: 818-588-3900 FAX: 818-588-3903 Five years after her son was killed, Tess Ford is ready to live again. Outnumbered forty to one, they pursued the enemy across mountainous terrain and, after a series of intense battles, captured the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, which was strategically essential if they were to defeat the Taliban. The bone-weary American soldiers were welcomed as liberators, and overjoyed Afghans thronged the streets. Then the action took a wholly unexpected turn. During a surrender of six hundred Taliban troops, the Horse Soldiers were ambushed. Dangerously outnumbered, they fought for their lives in the city's immense fortress, Qala-i-Janghi, or the House of War. It’s also home to one of modern history’s most infamous unsolved murders: the driveby shooting of The Notorious B.I.G. which came just months after the gangland execution of his great rival Tupac Shakur. The LAPD – tasked to bring this crumbling city to order – can only add fire to the flames as corruption eats at its core. Black cops die at the hands of their white colleagues, LA’s finest are implicated in robberies and drug deals, and dubious officers moonlight for infamous gangsta rap label Death Row Records. The chiefs will do anything to avoid negative publicity, even if it means turning a blind eye to the truth. Two decades on from the murder, Jackson, a less than scrupulous journalist whose entire career is based around one award-winning and flawed investigation into the shooting, and Poole, a disgraced former cop who just can’t let the case drop, come together as reluctant partners to navigate the web of corruption once more. LAbyrinth is the compelling story of two broken men and their mutual hunt for the truth. As the pair delve deeper into the mire of scandal and deception, this powderkeg tale systematically unravels the reputation of the city’s law enforcement, politics and justice system, while introducing us to a new kind of hero. Ruth was the toast of 1930s New York, a dress designer newly married to a wealthy adventurer, Bill Harkness. Just weeks after their wedding, however, Bill decamped for China in hopes of becoming the first Westerner to capture a giant panda–an expedition on which many had embarked and failed miserably. Given the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of the battlefield, Pitsenbarger remained to save and defend all those soldiers who were left, but was eventually killed by an enemy bullet, sacrificing his own life for his comrades. For his heroic deeds, Pitsenbarger was awarded the highest military honor a soldier could get, the Congressional Medal of Honor. This medal is awarded for personal acts of valor, above and beyond, the call of duty. But before Pitsenbarger was given the medal, it was taken away from him for unknown, but seemingly political reasons. The Last Full Measure is the touching story of Pitsenbarger’s father who together with all survivors of the Vietnam battle petitioned the government to give this fallen war hero the medal he so well deserved. Investigator Scott Huffman is assigned to the case to investigate the reason for this grave injustice. During his research, Scott begins to discover the private and political reasons why certain corrupt politicians denied Pitsenbarger’s medal. Scott personally visits a number of the survivors of that terrible battle, all of whom unite for a march on Washington to give back to William Pitsenbarger the honor that has been so ingloriously taken from him. Driven by their conviction, Huffman and Pitsenbarger’s friends and family reclaim his well deserved award in an emotional outpouring that honored this truly great man. To this day, he remains only of 1 of 2 enlisted airmen to ever receive such an honor. “THE LAST WITNESS” Feature Film 10-27-16 ! He works for a local newspaper and yearns to break a big story while his editor, Frank Hamilton, is happy to keep him reporting on nothing more controversial than local community events. However, when Stephen stumbles across the suicide of a Polish soldier from the local Displace Persons' camp, he disregards Hamilton's objections and follows his instincts. Stephen heads to the camp to question the commanding officer, his estranged brother, Captain John Underwood, but John is far from happy to see him and is reluctant to answer any questions. Stephen meets Colonel Janusz Pietrowski, formerly of the Polish Second Corps (under British command) and now a Liaison Officer for the resettlement of Polish troops. When Stephen mentions the suicide, Pietrowski explains that many Poles had lost all hope since their homeland was occupied by Soviet Russia and many fear for their lives but Stephen remains skeptical. Stephen is also intimately involved with Jeanette Mitchell, a Junior Commander in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, who works under his brother at the DP camp. She is trapped in a marriage of convenience with a homosexual military intelligence officer, Mason Mitchell. Both Stephen and Jeanette dream of escaping to London and starting a new life together and in the course of a clandestine meeting in a local public house, Stephen witnesses a confrontation between a new arrival at the camp, Michael Loboda, and a local farmer. During the argument Loboda inadvertently claims he is Russian and not Polish. Defying the conventions of polite society, Riding soon moves in with Graves and his wife, living as a ménage a trois. Then, with the arrival of the strappingly handsome Irish poet Geoffrey Phibbs, the arrangement becomes a ménage a quatre. Soon, tensions and rivalries among the artistic group become so fraught that Graves is suspected of attempted murder. Tired of the Victorian morals and British social structure that led to his war trauma, as well as the inhibitions imposed on his writing, Graves leaves England for good and settles with Riding on the Spanish island of Mallorca. Before he leaves England, Graves publishes his famous war memoirs “Goodbye To All That” as well as his first successful volume of poems (which critics universally agree contains some of the finest love poetry of the 20th century). Thus, despite the deep wounds of war and being shackled by those around him, Robert transforms himself into “A Laureate.” “LAW & ORDER TRUE CRIME: MENENDEZ” Series / NBC WOLF ENTERTAINMENT 100 Universal City Plaza Building 2252, Universal City, CA 91608 07-21-16 ! The film follows Jim’s giddy ascent from novice to soughtafter escort and artist’s muse – a journey complicated by a rare psychosomatic condition called ‘Stendhal Syndrome’, which renders Jim painfully oversensitive to art. Jim’s encounters with paintings by such artists as Caravaggio cause panic attacks and eventually hallucinations. Kit has always been a weirdo. She’s never had a boyfriend, never even been out on a date. I mean, she spends the majority of her time talking to her stuffed bears. Then Kit gets a special glitter-coated invite to a secret store. Curious, she goes there and meets The Salesman, a goofy guy who’s very serious about one thing: Unicorns. It turns out, according to The Salesman, that they’re getting a new unicorn in and that Kit has been chosen to receive said unicorn should she meet the basic requirements of unicorn ownage. Thrilled, Kit starts building a stable for her unicorn in her parents’ back yard, but realizes she needs help. She hires a guy with a dorky name (Virgil) on Craig’s List in hopes that he’ll be a nerd and therefore won’t judge her. But Virgil turns out to be a total stud, throwing Kit’s confused never-had-a-man-before’s hormones into overdrive. Of course, she knows that Virgil would never go for a girl like her, so focuses on friendship instead. Kit decides to tell Virgil that she’s getting a pony to avoid judgment, but it doesn’t take long for Virgil to sense he’s not getting the whole story. He finally demands to know what’s going on, and Kit believes the best course of action is to show him. So she takes him to the Unicorn Store only for there to not be a Unicorn Store. Just an empty warehouse. Kit must confront the reality that she’s so messed up, she imagined the whole thing, and now she’s going to lose her best friend over it. But maybe, just maybe, there’s still hope for a unicorn arrival yet. (October 31 – December 9) “UNTITLED HOLLYWOOD HILLS PROJECT” Feature Film 04-07-16 !
