YOUTH CLASSES > WINTER 2012–2013 Ages 4–8 Art Studios The museum’s Art Studio series focuses on developmentally appropriate themes and materials, provides oneon-one instruction with certified teachers, and supports 21st-century skill development. Designed to advance young people’s hands-on creative and analytical skills from one studio to the next, each series builds on the foundations of art to nurture students’ confidence, self-expression, and appreciation of art. In the galleries, youth spend time learning directly from museum masterpieces. In the studio, students practice creative problem-solving and exploration while experimenting with an array of artistic mediums. ART STUDIO II COURSES offer young people a foundational understanding of basic art vocabulary, tools, and processes. Students are encouraged to use fundamental skills learned in the studio to record their unique perception of the world around them.
