The Codiac Vikings sent 27 swimmers to the Bathurst Championship

The Codiac Vikings sent 27 swimmers to the Bathurst Championship Dequalifier last weekend. All our
swimmers swam amazing! This meet was held in Bathurst and there were teams from all across the
province in attendance.
We had four swimmers achieve their “A” times this past weekend. Reagan Crowell, Leah Purney, Isaac
Acker and Isaac Russell all came away with their “A” times. Reagan achieved her “A” time in the 200meter breaststroke, Isaac Acker achieved his time in the 200 freestyle, Leah Purney swam an “A” time in
the 50-meter freestyle and Isaac Russell swam an “A” time in the 100-meter I.M.
On top of that we had two swimmers who have qualified for the June outdoor X-Slush meet that is held
in Montreal. Ben Jelley and Simone Walz both qualified for the P1/P2 meet. Ben qualified in the 200
Freestyle on Sunday while Simone qualified in the 400 freestyle on Saturday evening. Reagan Crowell
also achieved her P1 time in the 100I.M.
The Codiac Vikings now have five more swimmers who can now attend team champs in April. This is
one of the most important meets of the year and we need as many swimmers to attend as possible.
Noel West, Madeline Baxter, Faith Lean, Morgan Childs and Issac Acker can now represent C.V.A.C. at
the meet which is held in Saint John on April 12th-14th.
Congratulations to Brooklyn Douthwright for setting a CVAC record in the 50-meter butterfly in the 10
& under category. Brooklyn had a amazing meet. She sliced an amazing amount of time off her times
this past weekend. Brooklyn carved over three seconds off her 100-meter I.M., over fourteen seconds
off her 100-meter backstroke and almost three seconds off her 200-meter backstroke.
The Codiac Vikings swam away with lots of hardware. Annie Frise won a gold medal in the 100-meter
I.M., 200-meter I.M., 50-meter Freestyle and 50-meter butterfly. Annie Frise also won a silver medal in
the 200-meter butterfly and 100-meter freestyle. Isaac Acker won a gold medal in the 100-meter
freestyle, a bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle. Zackary Breau won a bronze medal in the 100meter backstroke. Thea Button won a bronze medal in the 200-meter I.M. and a gold medal in the 100meter breaststroke. Emilee Coish came home with a bronze medal in the 50-meter butterfly and 200meter backstroke. Reagan Crowell swam away with silver medal in the 200-meter breaststroke and a
bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly. Rebecca Grant came home with a gold medal in the 100meter butterfly and a silver medal in the 200-meter freestyle. Sam Hamilton won a gold medal in the
800-meter freestyle, 50-meter breaststroke, 100-meter freestyle and a silver medal in the 100-meter
breaststroke and 50-meter butterfly. Ben Jelley swam away with a silver medal in the 100I.M., gold
medal in the 200-meter butterfly and 50-meter butterfly. Alyssa Leonard now has a gold medal in the
200-meter breaststroke and a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Leah Purney had one of her best meets of the year. Leah swam away with a bronze medal in the 100meter I.M. by chopping off almost three seconds in her time. She also walked away with a bronze medal
in the 200-meter butterfly and went a best time by over three seconds. Leah won a silver medal in the
50-meter backstroke, 50-meter butterfly and 50-meter freestyle. Mrs. Purney also won a gold medal in
the 400-meter freestyle.
Leandra Stackhouse performed fantastic at the meet. Leandra won a gold medal in the 200-meter
butterfly, 100-meter freestyle, 50-meter backstroke, 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke.
Leandra also placed third in the 50-meter butterfly and 2nd in the 100-meter I.M. Leandra swam an
incredible 200-meter butterfly and sliced over thirteen seconds off her personal best time.
Noel West, Simone Walz and Alex Wright were the three other CVAC members who won medals at the
meet. Noel won a silver medal in the 50-meter breaststroke, a gold medal in the 200-meter
breaststroke and a silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly. Simone Walz won a silver medal in the 200meter I.M. and a bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle. Alex Wright came home with a bronze medal
in the 100-meter freestyle, a bronze medal in the 200-meter I.M., a gold medal in the 100-meter
butterfly, a bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle and a bronze medal in the 50-meter butterfly.
Shaina Kennedy picked up a bronze medal in the 200-meter breaststroke. Shaina also destroyed her
previous best times in the 200-meter backstroke, 200-meter I.M., 200-meter breaststroke and 100meter backstroke. Mrs. Kennedy sliced over a minute off all her races.
Madeline Baxter, Issac Acker, Zackary Breau, Reagan Crowell and Kari Richard all swam 100% best
times. Issac swam an incredible 100-meter I.M. and now has a time of 1:35.87 which is over twenty
seconds better than his previous best time. Issac is now only off his P1 time in the 100I.M. by less than a
second. Issac Acker got his P1 time in the 200-meter freestyle by demolishing his best time by over
twenty-four seconds. Issac swam great in the 50-meter freestyle by swimming it in a time of 36.33.
Madeline Baxter swam an amazing 200-meter I.M. and knocked off over seventeen seconds in the
event. Madeline also dropped over ten seconds off her 200-meter breaststroke and seven seconds off
her 100-meter breaststroke.
Zackary Breau had some fantastic swims this past weekend. He shaved over seven seconds off his
100I.M., twelve seconds off his 200-meter backstroke, seventeen seconds off his 200I.M., three seconds
off his 400-meter freestyle and fourteen seconds off his 100-meter backstroke.
Reagan Crowell performed exceptionally well at the Bathurst meet. Reagan swam a blazing fast 200meter breaststroke and now has a time of 3:34.25 which gave her a silver medal in the 11&12 year olds.
Reagan also swam away with a bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly. Reagan also placed sixth in the
200-meter backstroke and 5th in the 100-meter backstroke.
Kari Richard swam some incredible races. Kari chopped off over five seconds in her 100I.M. and now
has a time of 1:29.75. Kari went on and demolished her 200-meter backstroke by over thirty seconds
and now has a time of 3:15.63. Mrs. Richard was not finished there. Kari swam over thirty-three
seconds faster in her 200I.M. and 200-meter breaststroke. She swam away with a bronze medal in the
200-meter breaststroke.
There were many other swimmers from CVAC who performed amazingly at the meet. Morgan Childs,
Melissa Childs, Grace Hamilton, Faith Lean, Ashley Legacy, Lauren Pitre, and Sarah Coish had a lot of
fantastic swims!
Melissa Childs had a great 100-meter backstroke and shaved over twenty seconds off her time. Morgan
Childs sliced almost twenty seconds off her 200-meter I.M. and thirty-five seconds off her 200-meter
breaststroke. Sarah Coish bettered her 100-meter freestyle by over sixteen seconds and currently has
a time of 1:49.07. Grace Hamilton swam a fantastic 100-meter backstroke and now has a time of
1:52.28. Faith Lean swam a perfect 200-meter I.M. and bettered her time by over twenty-one seconds.
Ashley Legacy swam amazing in the 50-meter breaststroke, 50-meter backstroke and 200-meter
breaststroke. Lauren Pitre swam two races that were out of this world in the 100-meter I.M. and in the
100-meter freestyle.
