November 2014 (edited) Katy~West Houston Aggie Mom Newsletter Ponderings from the President . . . I love fall! I love being able to wear flip-flops & shorts almost year round. I’m thankful for heat & serve rolls. I think it’s cool that the last three football teams the Aggies play are all tigers. I’m thankful for the Westlake Volunteer Firehouse & Firefighters. I’m thankful for our Veterans & the men & women who serve our country in our military keeping us safe & free. And I love that my Aggie will soon be home for Thanksgiving. This is the most popular Aggie Mom event that our Aggies love & look forward to, so don’t miss out! December General Meeting & Aggie Christmas: After the general business is (quickly) finished, we will have an Aggie Mom Christmas with games, good food, great fun & fabulous fellowship! We will be doing an old Aggie Mom favorite gift exchange… the Aggie Night Before Christmas… so bring a wrapped gift, $10 or less, A&M theme not required but would be fun! *This activity is optional…you do not have to participate; there will be lots of other fun! We are also asking that you bring a food donation for the Texas A&M 12th Can Food Pantry. We take for granted our blessing plenty and forget that there are others who are in need and especially during the winter break period. ANY nonperishable items & toiletry items are greatly appreciated but below is a list of suggested items from the 12th Can Pantry: * canned fruit low syrup * breakfast cereals (…and breakfast bars/items that do not require milk) *pasta (canned spaghetti sauce would sure taste good with this) *rice *peanut butter (…and boxed saltine crackers) *tuna *any non-perishable is greatly appreciated! Hearts & Hullabaloo in the Kitchen Cookbook: Thanks to everyone who submitted recipes to make the cookbook possible. Get one for all your family & friends for Christmas! Pre-ordered cookbooks will be available to pick up at the Dec. 4 general meeting and extras available for purchase. Questions? Contact Dina Russell at [email protected] Aggie Mom Boutique: Our Ways & Means boutique is set up before each general meeting and has the cutest, one of a kind items for Christmas, tailgating, etc. Stop by & see what’s new! Firehouse Chili Cook-off & Bingo: Since most of our Aggies will still be home in January, we would love for you to bring them & any other family members to this meeting. We are going to have a Firehouse Chili Cook-off & Bingo! Do you have the grand champion winning chili recipe? If so, team up with your Aggie or another Aggie Mom and bring your chili and enter it in the cook-off. The Westlake firefighters will be our special guests and Captain Mark Palmer will be the chili cook-off judge! There will be genuine major awards for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners. *All the fixings, toppings, dessert & drinks will be provided by KWHAMC. We will also plan to play Bingo and there will be some great prizes & gift cards for our winners! We know you’ll be dying to get out of the house by then, so plan now to attend this fun winter break meeting. Save the Date: Before you know it will be time for the 3rd Annual Hearts & Hullabaloo Dinner, Dance & Auction on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Swinging Door! Once again $35 discounted tickets will be available for sale at the December meeting only. Invitation will be mailed out in January, but save the date now and tell all your friends & family so they can join in the fun too. If you can help with this event, please contact Deena Mitchell at 713-244-4422. Special thanks . . . to Captain Mark Palmer for coming to our rescue and volunteering the use of the Westlake Volunteer Firehouse for the Katy-West Houston Aggie Mom 2014-15 meetings while the Living Word Lutheran Church is under construction.
