Getting on Good Terms
Graphing calculators can make finding feasible regions easier. However,
to draw the graph of an equation on a graphing calculator, you need
to put the equation into “y !” form. That is, you need to write the
equation so one variable is expressed in terms of the other. For
example, you might rewrite the equation y " 5 ! 4x as y ! 4x # 5.
For each equation, express the variable y in terms of the variable x.
1. y " 2x ! 7
2. 7y ! 14x " 21
3. 5x # 3y ! 17
4. 5(x # 3y) ! 2x " 3
5. 4x " 7y ! 2y # 3x
6. 3y # 7 ! 20 " (4x " y)
