Definition and Promises for Neighbourhood Policing Consultation
April/May 2017
The below definition of neighbourhood policing is being taken to
consultation, so is subject to change.
Neighbourhood Policing in South Yorkshire provides communities with teams
of dedicated, local police officers together with police community support
officers, who listen to and work with the public, community groups, partner
agencies and businesses to reduce crime, protect the vulnerable and
enhance community safety through problem-solving approaches.
The below five Promises are being taken to consultation, so are subject
to change.
Promise 1
Deliver a neighbourhood service which includes a number of organisations
working in partnership and with the public to deliver results in a joint way
Promise 2
Deliver a neighbourhood service which will protect the vulnerable through
early intervention and prevention
Promise 3
Deliver a neighbourhood service which will proactively understand and
prevent crime and harm by working together to solve problems, identifying
offenders and people at most risk of harm
Promise 4
Deliver a neighbourhood service which will tackle crime and antisocial
behaviour
Promise 5
Deliver a neighbourhood service which will engage and communicate
effectively with communities by listening to and prioritising concerns, helping
us understand the issues that matter the most
