An apprenticeship at Siemens is a
formalized career training program that
offers a combination of structured onthe-job training and related technical
instruction to our employees to train
them in an occupation that demands a
high level of skill. The scheme plays a key
role in your success, since it connects
your learning directly to the world of
work. It’s about learning, working and
building a career together.
The training standards are industry-driven
and can open up many avenues in the
world of manufacturing and engineering.
We currently recruit Craft and Technical
Apprentices. Craft Apprentices usually
work within Manufacturing and would go
on to undertake roles as fitters, turners
and machinists, whilst Technical
Apprentices would usually be destined for
roles in Manufacturing or Design
Engineering. As a Company, we
wholeheartedly support our Apprentices
and the training programs they
8
undertake.

Apprenticeships can lead to
exciting careers
Carl Ennis started his career as a technical apprentice in 1988.
After his apprenticeship, Carl was promoted to Design Engineer, then Chief
Engineer and became a senior manager in Siemens Transmission & Distribution in
2004.
His next career move took him to Energy Service Fossil where he became Divisional
Director in 2007.
Aged 43, Carl has just been promoted again, and will head of to China to lead
Siemens’ Energy Service Division in the Asia-Pacific region from December 2011
onwards.
Carl’s story is not unique - a
number of senior managers @
Siemens have started their
careers as Apprentices or on
Scholarship programmes.
