German-American Festival Adds Shuttle Locations to Increase Safety and Convenience
TOLEDO, Ohio, Aug. 13, 2013 – For the past 48 years, the German-American Festival has
become one of the largest ethnic festivals in the Midwest and a favorite of locals and out-oftowners alike.
“The German-American Festival has slowly become a staple within the local community and it
has been amazing to see our crowds grow in size every year,” said Festival Chair Timothy
Pecsenye, “but with increased crowd size comes increased responsibility. We want to make sure
that festival goers have fun, but more importantly we want them to be safe.”
It is that concern for safety that prompted the addition of new shuttle locations for the 2013
Festival. Attendees can now take the shuttle directly to the festival grounds from eight Toledo
area locations. For the convenience of festival guests, some of the locations have changed
slightly from last year.
For those who are considering using the shuttle service but are not yet convinced, here are
some PROS to consider:
PROS:
• Quick, convenient and cheap trips directly to the fun of the Festival.
• Fewer cars on festival grounds means less traffic mixing with pedestrians on the rural roads
surrounding the festival.
• Large groups? Skip the stress of carpooling – everyone can ride the shuttle together.
• Save on gas – park your car in the shuttle location closest to your home and let the GAF
shuttle do the rest of the work!
• Make new friends on your way to and from the Festival!
• The fun continues on the bus back to your car!
Shuttles will run from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23 and 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Saturday,
Aug. 24 (with the last shuttle leaving the departure locations at 10:00 p.m. and departing the
festival grounds at 1:00 a.m.); the Special Sunday Shuttle will run from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m. from
Bar 145 only (with the last shuttle leaving Bar 145 at 7:00 p.m. and leaving the festival grounds
at 11:00 p.m.). Shuttle ticket and departure locations include:
• Bar 145 – 5305 Monroe St.
