Information
Target Audience
This meeting is designed for anesthesiologists in the clinical and
laboratory setting, who desire to improve development of anesthesiology
teaching methods by engaging in an interchange of ideas as represented
in this meeting.
Needs Assessment
Topics for this meeting were derived from evaluations from the 2008 and
previous annual meetings. Suggested topics were discussed and
developed by educators who attended previous Annual, Council and
Advisory Board meetings and by other authorities in the field of anesthesia
education.

The University of Texas Medical Branch adheres to ACCME Essential

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participant should be able to:
• Update clinical and basic science issues related to anesthesiology;
• Identify the institutional, federal and nongovernmental agency
fellowship profferings;
• Discuss the Harvard-Macy programs;
• Review the Robert Wood Johnson programs;
• Identify new changes in NIH programs designed to develop
clinician-scientists;
• Describe the nuances of and implications for subspecialty
certification in anesthesiology;
• Compare the “pro" and "con" arguments with respect to pediatric
anesthesiology;
• Illustrate the role of industry support in improving medical education
and research and how to avoid the hazards of excessive industry
influence in these areas.

Transportation
The closest airport to the Moody Gardens Hotel is the William P. Hobby
Airport in south Houston. It is approximately a 40 minute drive from the
Hobby Airport to the Moody Gardens Hotel. Another option is the George
Bush Intercontinental Airport, which is in north Houston and is approximately a 1.5 hour drive to the hotel. Galveston is approximately 55 miles
south of the city of Houston.
Galveston Limousine Service is available from either airport in Houston to
the Moody Gardens Hotel. Phone (409) 740-5466 to make reservations.
Please note, you must provide credit card information and flight information and advanced reservations are required. The rate from Hobby Airport
is $40 one way/$80 round trip per person for a shared shuttle. The rate
from Bush Intercontinental Airport is $55 one way/$100 round trip per person for a shared shuttle.
An alternate transportation mode is Totally Texas Limousine Service
(TTLS), which is a full-service transportation company that services both
Hobby and Bush Intercontinental airports. The rate from Hobby is $95 one
