295 DRAFT EWES
A larger entry with again five buyers in attendance resulting in a very strong trade
from start to finish. Top price on the day was £91 sold by Roger Francis of High Hall,
Laneast, followed by Mr James Eustice of St Ervan who realised £80.50. Hill bred
ewes to £56.
152 FAT LAMBS
The finished lambs sold to a premium, with several pens over 196p/kg to a top of
203p for a pen of 40kgs (£81) from Mr CR Batten of Brynn Farm, Engollan. Top on
the day was £89 for a pen of 45kgs from Roger Francis of High Hall, Laneast.
203 STORE LAMBS
A flying trade for all store lambs with several prospective buyers present. Several
pens over £61 to a top of £65 for two pens sold by Messrs SW & T Cornelius of
Davidstow, followed by Ross Skelley of Yelverton who realised £64.50 for a pen of
Suffolk x Mules.

220 STORE CATTLE
The better weather didn’t detract cattle numbers or buyers at Hallworthy. The stores
sold at a pace with top steers this week from Mr TC Steed of Davidstow being his 27
month old British Blue x which sold for £1180, followed by a 24 month old Charolais
x steer to £1095 and another bunch of three British Blue x steers at 27 months old
selling for £1080. Mr WE Uglow of Warbstow sold his best two Limousin x steers at
22 months old for £1045 and Messrs M & V Stanbury of Bennacott sold a British Blue
x steer at 23 months old for £1000. Younger steers today from Mr D Bosley of
Camelford hit a high of £950 for a 14 month old named sire Aberdeen Angus x steer.
Mrs Prinn of Helstone saw her 8 month old suckled Charolais steer to £815.
The heifer section was topped today by Mr T Hannaford of Whitstone who sold a
British Blue x heifer at 22 months old for £950, closely followed by Messrs M & V
Stanbury of Bennacott who sold a 24 month old British Blue x for £920. Younger
heifers saw Mr JE Blackwell of St Keyne make £790 for his 15 month old South Devon
x heifer and Messrs SM & BL Sanders of St Neot had a tremendous run of Charolais
x suckled heifers at 9-10 months old to £775 and £760.
COWS & CALVES
The second part dispersal sale of suckler cows and calves on behalf of Mr Skelley of
Shaugh Prior reached £1250 three times, with a tremendous run of mainly Aberdeen
Angus x cows with Charolais x or British Blue x calves at foot. A super red Hereford
x cow with her bull calf was first to achieve £1250, then a Charolais x cow with her
bull calf and a Limousin x cow with her calf. An Angus x cow with her calf achieved
£1210, with many other lots between £1100 and £1150. Mrs LY Jasper of Lanteglos
saw their best South Devon x cow with heifer calf at foot to £1000.
