APRIL TERM III 2016/2017 NEWSLETTER 3rd Term Plan for Year 6 students Year 6 candidates will sit their Edexcel Exam this term. The exam will be done in the morning. Edexcel statements and Edexcel timetable to be issued to students on 15th May, 2017. The statement should be taken care of because the students will use them during the three exam days. We would also like to share the following important dates. ITEM Remedial classes DATES Resume on 26th April – 25th May, 2017 The subject schedule and time will follow term II’s program (1.15 p.m. - 2.15p.m.) Post Mock Exam 15th May: English 16thMay: Math 17th May: Science Parents’ Meeting 24th May, 2017 @3.00p.m.Venue to be communicated later . Prayer Day Edexcel Exam Science Fair Farewell party 29th May, 2017 31st May, 1st and 2nd June, 2017 After Edexcel Exams. (13th June, 2017) 29th June, 2017 (to be organized by year 5 students) Sports It’s the Football and Netball season again!!! We welcome you to Term 3 packed with football and Netball tournaments right from Inter House to Inter schools league. We shall also have Badminton, Triathlon and Cycling tournaments all lined up in a busy sporting term. Welcome aboard. Once again the inter house lunch time Netball and Football competition will be on every Wednesday for 6 weeks for year 1-5 boys and girls Dear Parents / Guardian, As we welcome you back to this final term of the academic year 2016/2017, we would like to reiterate our commitment to developing holistic learners who can easily compete at the global level. This term is very crucial to us and we once more seek for your unrelenting support. Remember that we are partners in this venture and therefore your support and credible feedback are of great essence. Exam scripts All the exam scripts will be issued to the students in the first week of the term. This is the week ending on 5th of May 2017. The process of issuing the scripts has not changed; students will go over the script with the subject teacher and the paper goes home where the parents are expected to sign and return to the teacher the following day. Any exam paper that is not returned the following day will not be accepted by the teachers. Report Cards We have noted that many report cards had arithmetic errors caused by our new computer system. We would like to most sincerely apologise for this anomaly and let you know that our technical team is working relentlessly to see that the program is producing internationally acceptable documents. Due to this, we are humbly requesting you to return the reports issued at the end of term two so that we can issue more accurate ones. Once more, we regret this inconvenience. Remedial As you may recall, we gave a schedule for remedial lessons in upper classes (Year 4 & 5) as follows: Girls on Mondays and Thursdays and boys on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Kindly note that the teacher needs to be notified and transport arrangements be done by the parents. However, in the lower classes, the parents need to sign the form issued by the class teachers.In case a teacher in upper classes wishes to call a particular student for remedial,a form should be filled and returned to the class teacher. Mentorship Science Fair This Term is a term that will see our students explore the scientific world. The Science Fair will be a learning moment. All investigations will be done in school. The climax of the Science Fair will be on 26th May, 2017 where the judging and viewing of the investigations will be History Knights The Humanities department is scheduled to have the History Knights this term.Pupils from Year 1 to 6 will have an opportunity to show case what they learn in History and also some great personalities who have made History in the world. The event will be held during the last week of the term. Meanwhile, pupils will be assigned the roles they will take part in and begin their rehearsals. As we start our preparations, we hereby appeal to parents to cooperate and assist whenever called upon. This is a guidance program in which each child from Year 4-6 is attached to a Mentor. They have par t of their meetings every first and third Thursday of the month from 7:30 – 8:00 am. Please make sure your child comes to school early enough to gain from this great program. House Breaks We also plan to have the House Breaks this time; however, they will be Breaks with a difference as all the Houses will have their breaks on the same day and time. The date and more details shall be communicated in due course. Term Value Theme Once again, we have a great value Theme - Honesty to guide us throughout the term. We urge you to help the children, in little ways, to nurture this great and noble value. A date when the whole school marks this theme will be communicated later. We will miss them We would like to notify you that Ms. Emma Muthoni, who was teaching Years 3 and 4, has retired after attaining the required age. At the same time, Mrs. Tehseen Jiwa formally resigned to join her husband who is working outside the country. Clubs / Activities There will be Wednesday afternoon Clubs starting from this week. Please remember that lunch will be taken from school as the students will not be allowed to go home for lunch (On Wednesdays). The lower junior students will not change clubs within the Academic Year anymore. However, in the event that a child would like to change to another club, the parent or guardian should bring this to the attention of the class teacher in writing. Kindly note clubs will be put on hold during the holy month of Ramadhan. The Holy Month of Ramadhan As it has been our Culture, we hereby remind you that the School shall be taking part in collection of alms from the students in form of dry food, clothes, shoes, bags etc which shall be then given to the less fortunate in the society. Graduation We look forward to a special and well deserved graduation evening for the year 6 class towards the end of the term.
