CHSPAC
Political Action Committee of CHS Inc.
Supporting candidates for Congress who help our business grow
What is CHSPAC?
CHSPAC is a political action committee organized to provide financial support to Members
of Congress (Republicans and Democrats) who have demonstrated an understanding and an
appreciation for legislative issues that matter to CHS. Helping to elect and re-elect Members
of Congress who support our legislative agenda is the sole aim of CHSPAC. The CHSPAC
Advisory Committee governs CHSPAC.
Why should you support CHSPAC?
By supporting CHSPAC you are exercising one of your most valuable
rights, the right to participate in the political process. By joining
together with your colleagues at CHS, your voice will be amplified in
the Congress. Contributing to CHSPAC is one of the most effective
ways to safeguard our industry from damaging regulations and profitthreatening legislation. Simply put, your decision and your colleagues’
decision to contribute or not contribute will impact the success of CHS.
The CHS Government Affairs team is working to educate Members
of Congress about our efforts to grow value for our member owners.
When legislators are informed about issues important to CHS, they are
much more likely to support our agenda.
Congress debates a variety of legislation each and every day that, if
passed, would have a major impact on the bottom-line of our business.
With the aggressive legislative agenda now being considered, it is
time to band together and let our voices be heard in Congress. We
cannot sit on the sidelines; we must give our Government Affairs team
the resources it needs to advance the CHS mission to grow company
profitability and stakeholder value.
Contributions to CHSPAC are not tax deductible. They will be used for
political purposes and are subject to the rules and regulations set forth in the
Federal Election Campaign Act. Your contribution is completely voluntary.
You have the right to refuse to contribute without any reprisal. The included
guidelines are merely suggestions. You are free to contribute more or less
than the suggested amounts. CHS will not favor or disadvantage anyone by
reason of the amount contributed or a decision not to contribute. Copies
of CHSPAC reports are filed with the Federal Election Commission and are
available at www.fec.gov. If you have any questions about CHSPAC please

Who does CHSPAC
support with your donations?
Every contribution CHSPAC receives is used to support candidates
who help us further our company’s interests. Our government
affairs team researches candidates’ backgrounds and legislative
histories. We then support candidates from both parties who
have voting records or announced positions on issues important
to CHS. We also support candidates who have demonstrated
leadership on key committees of importance to our business. We
look for candidates to support in states and districts where we
have large numbers of owners. We listen to our contributors and
support those candidates that our contributors ask us to support.
We make sure the candidates we are supporting have excellent
ratings from other business-related organizations. We consider
the impact our contribution will have on each campaign.
We support candidates who support CHS principles and
who can help advance the goals of our industry.
CHSPAC does not only support incumbents. We also support
challengers and candidates running for open seats. We support
candidates running for open seats who are capable of mounting
viable campaigns and who have a reasonable chance of
winning, and who are supportive of public policies that promote
competition and free markets in our industries; are likely to be
fair and open on issues important to CHS; and those who have
had a CHSPAC contributor request support of their candidacy.
We support challengers who meet the open seat criteria and
who are challenging incumbents who consistently vote against
the interests of free markets in our industries and/or the
interests of CHS.

CHSPAC, the political action committee of CHS Inc., is the most
effective way for us to elect and re-elect a co-op and business
friendly Congress. Make no mistake, electing the Congress is big
business. In 2010, House candidates raised more than $1 billion, while
Senate candidates raised $745 million. As the largest farmer-owned
cooperative in the United States, we have to make sure we are
contributing in a significant way in order for our voices to be heard.
Working together to fully fund CHSPAC is one more way to add more
value for our farmer and cooperative owners, leveraging the strength of
the CHS enterprise. We are leaders in our industry and we must also
lead on Capitol Hill, electing candidates who support our agenda and
defeating those who work against us.
