Topping it all off on Sunday night, January 29, the AFC beating topped the NFC,20‐13, at Camping World Stadium in front of an announced attendance of 60,834. The crowd as ranked the fifth largest attendance among Pro Bowls since 1970. It was Orlando’s first Pro Bowl and the game will return in 2018. The game was previously held in Miami and Tampa also. Tampa Provides Weekend of Activities Leading Up to Thrilling College Football Playoff National Championship Game With two seconds remaining on the clock, Clemson’s DeShaun Watson hit Hunter Renfrow for a two‐yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 35‐31 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2017 College Football National Championship to cap a full weekend of college football pageantry in the Tampa Bay area. While things got off to a rainy start on Friday, only to turn chilly on Saturday, there was plenty to do in Downtown Tampa between the Playoff Fan Central at the Tampa Convention Center, nightly Playoff Playlist Live! Concerts at Curtis Hixon Park, the open to the public Media Day at the Amalie Arena, The Extra Yard for Teachers 5K Run, the Championship Beach Bash on Clearwater Beach, the Taste of Tampa Bay at the Florida Aquarium or just a stroll through Downtown Tampa on the newly completed Riverwalk. Football fans took it all in on the final weekend of the 2016‐17 College Football Season as the Tampa Bay area was the hub of College Football from January 6‐9. With the success of the 2017 CFP National Championship, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and other community leaders have their sights set on a return to the area for another opportunity to host the game. “It’s not the end. It’s the start,” said Rob Higgins, executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. “We look forward to a long‐term relationship. Now the focus shifts. We want to be your first second‐time host. This event has changed our community forever.’’ Florida Representation at Super Bowl LI If players from the State of Florida are a determining factor in Super Bowl LI, being played in Houston this weekend, the Atlanta Falcons will walk away with the Lombardi Trophy. The Falcons feature eight players on the active roster and one on the injured reserve list. The New England Patriots active roster has five Florida players dressing for the game and one player on injured reserve. The Falcons also feature six players who were originally drafted out of a Florida college program with two Florida Gators and one player each from the Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes, Florida Atlantic Owls and the Bethune‐Cookman Wildcats.
