FRENCH MAJOR INSTRUCTIONS AND POLICIES









Ten courses required
All courses taken for credit in the major must have a grade of C- or better
No more than one credit in Independent Study may be counted toward the major
No more than two credits combining an Independent Study and an honors thesis may be counted toward the
major
Students participating in programs abroad may count toward the satisfaction of the latter two requirements
a wide range of courses in language, literature, art history, geography, history, civilization, and other areas
No major course may be taken Pass/Fail
If you have more than one major, please see Bulletin for rules on double-counting courses
If you have a minor no more than two course credits used toward the minor may be used toward
foundation, distribution, major, or other minor requirements
