Year 11 English/ English General Students who feel that they need some extra help with developing confidence to present a speech are encouraged to attend. YEAR 11 SOCIAL STUDIES: Reminder there is a tutorial in A28 this THURS lunchtime. Please come along if you need help with the 1.5 Modern Day Slavery assessment. SCIENCE AUSTRALIAN COMPETITION / ICAS: ICAS Science sitting test date is on Tuesday 30th May. We will have a meeting to issue participation letters soon, so watch the space in daily notices. MUSIC ALL VIOLIN/VIOLA/CELLO & DOUBLE BASS PLAYERS: Volante Strings will be starting their rehearsals on Thursday lunchtime in M3. SPORTS FOOTBALL TRIALS: Junior A & B Football trials are on Monday 6th and 13th March from 3.45 – 5pm - Second XI trials are on Monday 20th March at 3.45 – 5pm and Wednesday 22nd March at 6.45am – 8am. Call backs will be on Wednesday 16th March if required. BASKETBALL: Registrations are now being taken for those wishing to play Basketball this year. Trials will be held on Wednesday 8th March and Friday 10th March from 6.45am to 8am at the YMCA, Akoranga Drive. Please contact the Sports Department with any queries. CYCLING: Westlake Boys Cycling Club is hosting a start of season ride then barbecue. Sunday 12th March at 11 am, to be held at the Pavilion. All members of Westlake Girls Cycling are welcome: students, parents and teachers. Pot luck, bring a dish. Also please join the ride first. A planned ride is scheduled for 7am Sunday morning (parents welcome to ride). More details to follow. HOCKEY: Goal Keepers needed for the 2017 Hockey season. Goalies will attend 1 team practice per week and 1 Thursday afternoon game (Terms 2 & 3). North Harbour goalie coaching available for free if wanted as well. VOLLEYBALL – THURSDAY NIGHT COMPETITION: There is no Volleyball this week due to Auckland Champs. The next game will be Thursday 16th March. Please check the draw on the Sports Department noticeboard, if you are unsure. CHEERLEADING - WESTLAKE SWANS: Cheerleading will commence this Friday for those girls wishing to be part of the Westlake Swans Cheerleading Team. Trainings are from 4pm to 5.30pm at Allstars Cheerleading Gym, 62B Diana Drive. Please see the Sports Department for more information. NETBALL: UNIFORM: If you have not got a netball dress or ordered one please do so by Friday as they take 4 -6 weeks for delivery. If you do not have a dress by start of season you will not be able to play. YEAR 9: Last trial for Year 9 on Wednesday 8th March 1-3pm on the covered courts, everyone to attend. There will be callbacks on Friday 10th March 1- 3pm the list will be posted in Sports Department on Thursday. Year 10: All students wishing to play Year 10 netball must have registered with Mrs Baker in the Sports Department. Trials start at 1pm; at beginning of lunch please get changed into PE gear, have a quick snack and be ready on courts by 12.50pm to warm up.
