writing the responses in a way the thoughts are explained.
3.4 C (Readiness) and 3.16 B (Process)
Before school starts every summer my sister and I go on a shopping trip. This year I wanted to
buy some perfume, but it was so expensive I wanted to get the most perfume for the least
amount of money. In the store on the first counter I saw a 9-ounce bottle for $ 72. On the
second counter I saw a 6-ounce bottle for $ 54. My sister quickly saw which perfume was the
best buy for me. How did she prove to me which was the bottle that I should buy to get the most
for my money?
A.
She divided $72 by 9 and divided $ 54 by 6 and then compared the amount
of ounces in the bottles.
B.
She divided $72 by 9 and divided $ 54 by 6 and then added the amount of
ounces in the bottles.
C.
She multiplied $72 times 9 and multiplied $ 54 times 6 and then compared
the amount of ounces in the bottles.
D.
She multiplied $72 times 9 and multiplied $ 54 times 6 and then added the
amount of ounces in the bottles.

B. Add 8 and 9 then multiply the sum by 2
C. Multiply 8 times 9 and add 2 to the product
D. Multiply 8 times 9 then multiply the product by 2
