Hello Home School Families!
As many of you know, if your high school student plans to attend college, he will need at
least 2 years of a foreign language.
Though there are a handful of excellent programs
available to you, like Rosetta Stone, let me suggest an alternative option that rivals the
best of these programs and that will save money in the long run and help your child earn
high school and college credit simultaneously!
The Community College System in the state of Kentucky has developed an ONLINE SPA
101 course for high school students for dual credit (4 college credits). This revolutionary
course has been enthusiastically endorsed by the Kentucky Department of Education.
I am so excited to be a part of this endeavor and to serve as the instructor! So often I
get questions from concerned home school moms about their child's foreign language
learning.
They want their child to get real, live instructor feedback on their student's
speaking and writing skills--something they don't receive with dvd programs currently
available.
The best news is that the course is available ONLINE for your convenience....and your
child earns high school AND college credit at HALF the college tuition price!
Also, your
child may enroll at ANY time--he has 150 days to complete the course.

¡Hola! My name is Victoria Walker. For the last 14 years I have been teaching at
Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington. I received a BA in Spanish
from the University of Southern Indiana in 1986 and a Masters degree in Spanish
from the University of Kentucky in 1989. Also, I currently work as a proof reader
for several online Spanish labs. As a college student, I spent a summer living in
Mexico City and have since returned to Mexico several times.
I have traveled
extensively throughout the US, and I visited Europe after graduating from college.
Quite recently my daughter and I journeyed to El Salvador on a church mission trip.
I have been home educating my four children for 11 years now. Also I teach Spanish
at Midway College, as well as to a group of elementary and high school students at
Capital Area Christian Homeschoolers Enrichment Program in Frankfort.
It is my
pleasure to help you learn Spanish, and I am really excited about and look forward to
a great class with you!

Your Ticket
to Success!
Spanish is the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world with over 400
million speakers worldwide. Modern trends show that more people are studying
Spanish than any other language.
With grammatical structures, vocabulary roots, and phonetics similar to English,
Spanish is one of the easiest languages to learn. Moreover, learning Spanish will
actually improve your English language skills!
Having a working knowledge of Spanish will increase your future job marketability.
Because Hispanic consumers are the fastest growing market segment in the United
States, employers are on the look out for potential employees who speak at least some
Spanish. There is an ongoing and increasing demand pretty much across the board in
areas such as: the medical profession, equine and agricultural fields, education, law
enforcement, business, retail, government, and the list goes on! Indicating on your
resume that you have a working knowledge of Spanish will attract attention.
Learning Spanish will broaden your cultural awareness--from art and music to
literature and cinematography.
Combining your knowledge of Spanish and travel abroad will enhance your travel
experiences allowing you to actively engage in another culture, from reading menus
and signs to making a purchase at a local market.
Studies show that learning and using two different languages decreases dementia
and/or your chance to develop it! Learning Spanish will stimulate mental capabilities,
improve your memory, foster creativity, and in a nutshell, make you smarter!
