We Keep Denmark
Connected
Banedanmark keeps the railway network
running in Denmark
E
very day, year round, we work on keeping the
railways running smoothly and on time. We
control and supervise the railways with more
than 3,000 trains running everyday on more than
2,000 kilometres of state owned rails in Denmark.
We ensure passengers receive information about
the railway traffic at more than 300 train stations.
We inform the passengers about the 40,000 daily
departures and arrivals. And when the traffic is not
running according to plan it is our job, together
with the operators, to inform the passengers about
alternative means of transportation.
We maintain and renew the railways and while
working on creating a reliable train operation
today, we are also busy constructing the railways of
tomorrow.

A Reliable
Journey
Efficient maintenance is the basis of
a pleasant train journey
W
e aim to deliver safe and reliable railways
with trains running on time and keep our
passengers well-informed.
A prerequisite for a reliable train journey is wellmaintained railways, which can cope with the
challenge of 170 million passengers and 15 million
tonnes of freight travelling by rail yearly. Therefore,
we work year round to maintain all the vital parts
of the railways. We renew tracks, inspect crossings, lubricate points, cleanse rubble, replace rails
and check signals and power rails, ensure the rails
are free from vegetation and weeds – all this to
ensure that the trains are running according to time
schedules and safety regulations.
Our work is planned to cause the least possible
disturbance to the railway traffic to ensure that the
least possible amount of passengers are inconvenienced. This is why we work at night and during
holidays.

The Railways
of Tomorrow
In the coming years we will be extending
with more capacity and new technology
W
hile working on making railway travel
reliable for today’s passengers, we are also
striving to make railway travel an attractive means of transportation for more and more
people.
Therefore, we have a series of large-scale projects
for renewing and extending the railways with more
capacity and new technology to make room for
even more trains. We are building a new railway
between Copenhagen and Ringsted, we are replacing the signals on the entire railway, and we are
building the land section of the rail facilities of the
new Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link.
Our efforts will facilitate more train departures,
shorter travel time, and fewer delays on all the railway lines in Denmark. The projects also reflect the
vision to double the freight and passenger traffic by
year 2030.

The Company of
The Future
Our people are creating the
railways of the future
A
t Banedanmark, more than 2,000 employees
work in multiple functions to ensure that our
passengers have a reliable train ride today,
and an attractive railway system in the future. We
have people all over the country – at command
posts and remote control centres, on the rails, and
at our three main locations in Copenhagen and
Fredericia.
We believe that the best way to create the railways
of the future is to keep all our skilful employees actively involved in creating the services and systems.
This will contribute to us meeting our numerous
project goals and challenges.
At Banedanmark, we work on many different
projects and tasks. Whether a person is controlling
traffic, is a specialist, or rail engineer, they do a job
which influences the lives of many people and has a
great impact on Danish society.
