METHOS OF EVALUATION
 1. Attendance / Participation
Attendance is imperative and mandatory and directly linked to the
participation grade in this course. The student should be present during the
entire class. If you are late, please enter the Classroom quietly. Two tardies or
leaving early are equivalent to one absence. Remember: being absent will
NOT excuse you from the material that was covered not for being unprepared
for the following class meeting. You will be held responsible for the material
and assignments missed.
The Foreign Language Attendance and Participation Policy is as
follows: A student may be dropped from a five (5) unit course if absent nine (9) consecutive hours
or a total of fifteen (15) hours during the entire semester.
Participation is very important in assigned activities. It is expected that students participate in class
discussions, dialogues and so on. Moreover, students will respond to questions and will try to communicate
in the target language demonstrating ability and comprehension of the studied topics. NOTE: ¡Students
must be respectful!!!! They have to respect one another. When a student is participating in class or
asking a question, everybody needs to pay attention and collaborate in the conversation when it is required.
 2. Homework: Textbook / Cuaderno de activities / packets
Homework/assignments are appropriate for a five-unit course. You are expected to complete assigned
homework before coming to class. Textbook assignments, cuaderno de actividades, packets and other
assignments from different sources must be turned in on the date indicated on the syllabus. NO LATE
ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Some assigned homework from the textbook/ workbook and so on,
will be checked in class on the day homework is due, and it will also count towards your participation.
 3. Language Lab Attendance
This course requires the student to complete one hour per week with their
class in the language lab. To fulfill the course requirements you must complete
a total of 15 hours in the lab. During this time at LBCC’s multi-media lab, you will
use computer programs, such as grammar tutorials, web exercises, videos and
films in Spanish that will give you additional exposure to the language and
culture(s). Lab hours cannot be made up. Constant practice of the target
language in class and beyond the class is crucial to gaining acquisition and
fluency in the Spanish language; thus, going to the language lab should be one of
your priorities this semester. We will be visiting the Center for more in-depth information (Orientation).
