Online Assessment Assessment Information for Engineering Apprentice Roles in Gen2 This leaflet will help you prepare to take the assessments. It provides you with information about the assessments and some practice questions. Further detailed instructions and practice questions will be provided when you take the assessments. Note that the examples in this leaflet are not exactly the same as the assessments that you will take, but they will help to prepare you for what you have to do. In this assessment you will be presented with several different types of task, including: converting calculating calculating calculating units proportions percentages volumes and areas In all cases you must identify the correct answer from the options given. For example: A factory workshop is 0.05 km long. How many metres is this? A. 5 m B. 0.5 m C. 50 m D. 3 m Online Assessment Working with Technical Numerical Information The answer to example 1 is C. A container weighs 1,448 kg. How much is it in tons? A. 114,800 tons B. 1.448 tons C. 1,448,000 tons D. 14.48 tons The answer to example 2 is B. A car needs 12 seconds to travel 113 m. How fast is it travelling in km/h. A. 33.9 km/h B. 0.38 km/h C. 339 km/h D. 67.8 km/h The answer to example 3 is A. In this assessment you will be presented with figures depicting various types of mechanical systems about which you will be asked questions. The tasks in this test require you to identify the mistakes between an original picture and a copy. For example: 1. Identify the three mistakes in the picture on the right side. In this assessment you will be presented with passages of text, for example: Management Online Assessment Verbal Reasoning Store You will then be asked to determine whether statements about these passages of text are ‘True’ or ‘False’, or if you ‘Cannot Say’ without further information whether the statement is True or False. It is important when making your judgement that you use only the information presented. Consider the following two statements about the passage above and try to determine if each one is ‘True’ or ‘False’ or if you ‘Cannot Say’ without further information whether the statement is True or False. 1. Julius Henderson studied business management before starting to work for Top Box Ltd. The answer to Statement 1 is ‘true’. The information provided states that employees are to a certain extent excused from work for training events and to gain other qualifications. 2. Top Box Ltd. also has a temporary storage facility where half-finished products are stored temporarily. The answer to Statement 2 is ‘Cannot Say.’ There is no information provided that states that Top Box Ltd. also has a temporary storage facility where half-finished products are stored temporarily. In this assessment you will be presented with simple equations that you must correctly complete using the numbers from 1-9. Each number from 1-9 may only be used once to answer each question, and some questions may have more than one correct solution. For example: Online Assessment Making Quick and Accurate Calculations The first example could be answered as: 3 + 4 = 7 The second example could be answered as: 4 X 8 = 32 Note that other answers are possible and that no answer is more ‘correct’ than any other, as long as the equation is correctly completed. Note also that in all cases, the numbers used to complete each equation are used only once in that equation.
