The McCloud River Loop
Is a six mile long drive located approximately 5 miles east of McCloud on Highway 89. The drive
takes you past three of the most beautiful waterfalls anywhere; Lower, Middle, and Upper Falls.
There’s a hiking trail that connects the three falls. In the summer drive to any of the three parking
areas and find the marked trail.

Winter activities also abound at the McCloud River Loop area. Begin by parking at the turnout at the
sign for Fowlers Camp. Snowshoe or Cross country ski south out of the parking area. Follow the road
and stay to the right until you hear Lower Falls. There are picnic tables and an overlook to enjoy the
view and take a short rest before taking trail upstream through Fowlers Camp and then onto Middle
Falls. After enjoying Middle Falls, keep going upstream by following the switchbacks to the Middle
Falls upper viewing area, keep going to Upper Falls. Above Middle Falls there are several day use
campsites with fire rings and picnic tables.
