A WHITE CHRISTMAS??
There are several different procedures that will whiten your teeth. They all used different techniques and
strengths of whitening gel and different procedures are recommended for different patients.
What are the different types of Teeth Whitening?
Dr Maguire uses 3 different types of Teeth Whitening systems.

The whitening gel (normally 25% Hydrogen Peroxide) is
applied to the teeth and a blue light is shone on the teeth
for 20 minutes. This application is done 3 times, each for
20 minutes. The whole procedure can normally take up to
90 minutes. Teeth can whiten up to 8-10 shades lighter
but many patients experience a lot of sensitivity during
and for up to 24 hours after the procedure.

Home Whitening
Customized whitening trays are made to fit over your
teeth. You are given several tubes of whitening gel,
(normally 10%-35% Carbamide Peroxide) shown how to
apply the gel into the trays and how to insert them.
Depending on the strength of the whitening gel, the trays
are worn from 30 mins to 8 hours (normally overnight).
This procedure is normally repeated everyday for 10-14
days to get optimum results. This system gives you the
choice of how white you want your teeth to go. The trays
can then be kept and used to ‘top-up’ the whitening
every 6-12 months.

The laser whitening gel (Normally 46% Hydrogen
Peroxide) is applied to the teeth and the Biolase Epic
laser is shone on the teeth for 30 seconds each
quadrant x2 (4 minutes).The gel is then left on the
teeth for 5+ minutes, rinsed off and the process is
repeated once more. There is little if any sensitivity
during and after the procedure and teeth can whiten
up to 6-8 shades lighter and will continue getting
lighter for 48 hours after the procedure.
