THANK YOU!
Our 2nd Annual
Walkathon- "Let's Walk
Together" was a HUGE
success! Although the
weather was not in our
favor, it didn't stop over
600 participants from
showing up and joining us
in embracing those who
are on the journey of
cancer. We humbly report
to you that we raised over
$100,000! This was only
made possible by ALL OF
YOU! The support we have
received is indescribable
and we will continue to
work hard to grow our
mission even further.
Mary's Place by the Sea is
now in it's 4th year of
operation. We have
weathered many storms
and along the way built a community to stand
behind us, hold us up and
embrace us. We have now
served over 1500 women
from the tri-state region.
We have only just begun...

Let’s Walk Together 2nd Annual Walk Fundraiser for Mary’s Place by the Sea Raises More Than $100,000 and still counting
Mayor of Neptune Eric Houghtaling, Ms. Teen Puerto Rico, Laurie Cataldo from The Point, and over 600 show their support
Ocean Grove, NJ- On Saturday May 11th 2013 Mayor of Neptune Eric Houghtaling, Ms. Teen Puerto Rico, Laurie Cataldo from The Point, and over
600 walkers showed their support for Mary’s Place by the Sea by attending the Second Annual Let’s Walk Together Fundraiser. The 2.5 mile walk on
the Ocean Grove to Bradley Beach boardwalk, led walkers ranging from newborns to supporters in their 80's through rain drops to support their loved
ones who have battled cancer and to raise awareness for this charity. Mary’s Place by the Sea provides an innovative approach to caring for women
during and after treatment. Guests are provided with unconditional care during their time of extreme need at no cost. Walkers supported Mary’s
Place in such a tremendous way by raising more than $100,000. Founder Michele Gannon said of the event, "Our 2nd Annual walkathon was a huge success! I am grateful to the long list of volunteers, donors and
participants who filled our street with love. We are determined to make a difference in the cancer community and I believe we are doing just that!" Mary’s Place by the Sea was founded by Michele Gannon and Maria McKeon. It is their vision to give women with cancer a place to rest and
recuperate during and after the rigors of their cancer treatments. The volunteers care for these women so they may focus on their healing—gaining
strength to win the battle with cancer. Guests are welcome to stay a few hours or a few days, if needed. Some of the amenities offered to guests are
oncological massage, nutritional counseling, guided meditation, yoga, strength training and in-room spa services. "I cannot tell you how motivated and inspired I am by the mission of Mary's Place and the Founders Michele Gannon and Maria McKeon, who live
everyday full of love for each and every person that comes through their door," says Clare Freda the chairwoman of the walk. "The women who
volunteered for the walk-a-thon committee helped tremendously with donations of food, prizes, additional volunteers, corporate sponsors, vendors,
and the overall success of this event. There is no way I could single out one person because it is a combined effort of talents and gifts given for a
higher purpose! As we began to set up for the day's event we were already talking about how to make it better. So see you next year!!!! Hope you will
join us rain or shine...$100,000.00 and counting boo-yah!"
A guest from Pennsylvania gathered a group together, Team Beth! When asked what makes Mary's Place so unique she said, "Mary's Place is such a
healing haven for me. Healing and empowerment in a relaxing, non-clinical setting, full of love. I adore the mission, the place and most the loving
ladies who share their hearts every day."
Dave Armstrong of Sass Consulting Group and President of the Board of Directors at Mary's Place by the Sea, said of the day's success, "I am so
grateful to the many volunteers who worked so hard to pull off this amazing event. The tremendous outpouring of support will enable Mary's Place
to continue to provide support and comfort to women undergoing treatment for cancer."
One of the sponsors of the walk was Wegmans of Ocean Township. Manager, John Zammetti says of the mission, "The folks in our store are really
energized by supporting Mary's Place." Zammetti had numerous employees affected by Super Storm Sandy as well as survivors and others battling
cancer. "When we learned about the challenges Mary's Place was facing after Sandy they seemed like a natural match for us."
The first care center was opened in the summer of 2009 and currently operates at 15 Broadway Avenue in Ocean Grove. Proceeds from the “Let’s Walk
Together” walkathon will help continue the mission as well as additional programs to help women and their families cope with the impact of their
illness. The goal of the founders is to open centers in every major US city over the next 20 years.
