Bright colors, ease of use, and infinite techniques make acrylic painting a boundless, creative choice. During this camp, students will learn the basic principles and techniques of acrylic painting, including composition, light and shadow, color harmony, and perspective. Students will paint a variety of subjects including landscapes, seascapes, and animals on canvases. By the end of the week, your young artist will fill your home with unique and beautiful artwork. Dates: July 11 - 14 (ages 11-13) and August 1 - 4 (8-10) Times: Monday - Thursday, 9 AM - 1 PM Location: Wilmington Campus Cost: $150 (Include paint, brushes, and easels. Additional supplies required.) Camp Curriculum The instructor will provide step-by-step instructions to paint an 8”x10” canvas with a pre-drawn template. Each student will paint the same piece, but there will be opportunity to make it their own. The goal is for each student to complete two paintings each day. The instructor will prepare a painting palette (using nontoxic materials) for each participant, and offer assistance to individual students. A new technique will be incorporated each day, which will allow students to progress in their skills during the week and give them the confidence to be able to paint on their own once camp has finished. Students will utilize different approaches so they can find their own way to express themselves through art. Lunch Break Campers will receive a 30 minute break each day. Please pack a brown bag lunch and drink for your child. Campers will not have access to a refrigerator or microwave. Staff must be notified at the time of registration if there are known food allergies and/or intolerances. Many of her students started painting at 8 years of age and have continued with her classes even into their upper teens. Over the years, several adult students have continued painting privately and are even winning local competitions. Currently, she has her own painting studio in Wilmington where she continues to offer Oil and Acrylic painting classes in a variety of painting/ artist techniques. In addition to these weekly classes, she has partnered with several commercial art suppliers to provide classes in local craft stores in both Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, SC.
