AOI Celebrates 2011 marks the tenth year of AOI serving those in need throughout the state. We made our first collection for flood victims in August 2001, which we shipped the next month to McDowell and Wyoming Counties. We now have a presence in 27 counties throughout the state, serving areas of poverty and disaster. AOI was incorporated on Jan. 28, 2002. Look for information about our history throughout the year. Thank you to all who joined us at the Celebrity Server Night on Nov. 4 at Ponderosa in Glen Dale. We raised $467 for AOI. At the Bob Evans Community Day on Nov. 14, we earned $214. Delivery Success Again & Shoebox Santa Record-Breaker Our year-end totals are in, and we have some records to celebrate for AOI! Last year we delivered over 177 tons on 58 trips travelling 37,706 miles to 17 counties. We completed 532 Baby Bonus Baskets (over 200 more than last year) and 9,355 Shoebox Santas— nearly 800 more than our record high set last year! We also collected toys for approximately 4,000 children who otherwise would have fallen between the cracks last Christmas. Office/warehouse supplies: we need small/medium binder clips, black markers, Scotch tape and duct tape, bright-colored copy paper or cardstock. Urgent need for furniture, bedding, and linens due to recent disasters. Dishes, kitchen utensils, silverware. Two to three groups (of 3-5 people each) needed weekly for assistance (sorting, packing, cleaning) at warehouse. Funding and items needed for Shoebox Santas, including wrapping paper.
