KINDERGARTEN
GRADE ONE
We are getting very excited in our classroom with
the upcoming celebration of Jesus’ birth. Christmas
is a very special time of year! Our practicing for the
Christmas chapel is going very well.
W e have been praying daily during our morning
devotions for the safe return home of Abby’s mom, Mrs.
Osborn, and Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons, Jenna’s grandparents.
W e now give thanks to God for answered prayer in that
these servants of His have returned home safely to their
families. W e are looking forward to hearing about their
trips as soon as possible.
It was delightful to meet with you all at
parent/teacher conferences. If you have thought
about anything that you wish you had shared with
me, or perhaps a question you may still have, please
do not hesitate to call me at 905-575-3864.
Next week will be a week of Christmas activities,
therefore, we will not be introducing a new letter of
the alphabet.
Leadership Council has arranged a service project
for Victim’s services and is requesting donations of
new hats, scarves, or mittens. Your participation
would be greatly appreciated by December 12th.
Next week Wednesday is “red and green day” - also
arranged by the student council. We encourage you
to wear red and green clothing.
As excitement continues to build within the Grade
1 classroom, we anxiously await the start of our
Christmas holidays!
Several items of which to take note are:
( some students still need to bring in a flashlight to be
used in next week’s Christmas Chapel
(there will be no quizzing during next week
( there are still 2 books available for extra Math practice
at home if anyone is interested
( I will be sending home some booklets for the holidays
that are completely optional for your child to complete
( several Library books still need to be returned to school
before the Christmas holiday begins
School will be dismissed at 1:00 next Friday for the
Christmas break. The morning at school will be spent
enjoying some very active games, some crafts, some
writing and a special treat made for the Grade 1’s by my
mom. Students will need to bring their lunch that day, but
not a morning snack. Merry Christmas! Love, Mrs. C.

With Mrs. Dreise...
As my time wraps up in the classroom and Mrs.
Dykstra is preparing her return to JDCS, it is time to
say ‘good bye’. I so have appreciated the time with
this wonderful group of kids and I know that I will
miss you all - tonnes! Thank you for all your hard
work and your enthusiasm in life! You have been a
blessing.
The students and Mrs. Eising surprised me with a
wonderful baby shower on Monday morning! What
a treat! The students presented me with a book they
had made which included lots of loving words and
beautiful pictures and we enjoyed yummy cupcakes!
Thank you as well for the gift certificate...I will
definitely put it to good use!
It has been a privilege to teach your children over
these past four months! It is hard for me to say
good bye! Thank you for all of your support and
encouraging words. I pray that you will all
experience God’s love and joy over the Christmas
season and into the New Year!
WWW: We will write our last spelling test of this
year next Wednesday, December 17.

Thank you, parents, for allowing your child to
participate in the preparations for Mrs. Dreise’s
shower. We were able to present her with a lovely
gift card as well as a booklet with our own wellwishes. We all enjoyed a very yummy cup cake and
some juice as we celebrated Mrs. Dreise and her
upcoming baby (
In French the students received their quiz back and
we’ve moved on to unit D, “C’est pour direction”.
In Art we are continuing our project in Picasso’s
style - a self portrait which shows his style of
cubism.
For Music, please continue to daily review the
entire song of “That Boy-Child of Mary” in
preparation for our upcoming Christmas chapel.
We’d like to do a good job and need to know the
words well.
Grade 2/3 continues next column...
As this is also the last newsletter prior to the
beginning of our Christmas Break I’d like to wish
all my friends in Gr. 2/3 and their families a very
blessed Christmas as you celebrate the birth of our
Saviour. What a gift we all receive in Christ! May
you experience God’s nearness and His presence in
your life during 2009. With love - Mrs. Eising.

With Mr. Wybenga...
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all
a blessed Christmas and a wonderful new year! May
God bless you richly in 2009.
The Christmas season is fast approaching, and
everyone in grade 5/6 is looking forward to the
holidays. Both grades are continuing to work on
long division in math. Grade 6 is currently learning
to divide using decimals while the 5's are dividing
four or five digit numbers with one divisor. In
grammar, grade 5 is currently working on simple
sentence and dividing them into subjects and
predicates. Grade 6 grammar is just finishing up its
unit on simple sentences. The simple farm tools of
ancient China and ancient Egypt are being learned
about in Social Studies. Students are finding out
that ancient peoples were ingenious at developing
tools from the primitive resources they had.
