“Print only” Overlap Registration System™ More Than One Way Contra Vision® Impress™ Why Contra Vision® Impress™ Contra Vision® Impress™ and Contra Vision® BACKLITE Impress™ are see-through window graphics products on non-perforated transparent material such as selfadhesive PVC or polyester film. They have superimposed layers of ink in a print pattern, for example of lines, leaving transparent gaps for through vision. The Overlap Registration System™ has many advantages over perforated vinyl systems, including the greater durability of a non-perforated substrate, typically print-treated polyester or PVC films or sheet plastic. The printer has total control over key factImpress such as substrate selection, percentage transparency, print pattern and the ability to emphasise a particular part of a design, for example by “blocking out” a logo and its background layer within a see-through advertisement. 10 Configurations There are 10 different configurations of see-through graphics related to: • opaque or translucent print patterns • outside or inside application • one or two printed designs or a projected design Overlap Registration System™ Normal registration error in any printing method will lead to unwanted visual effects unless special measures are taken. The Overlap Registration System™ is a patented system of managing the inevitable lack of registration in any printing system to provide see-through graphic panels of reliable colour rendering and the desired visual perception of the image. ink Contra Vision® Impress™ on entrance doors, the “focal Point of Purchase” non-perforated transparent substrate Printing direction of inkjet printhead movement relative to substrate Screenprinting — direction of squeegee movement Contra Vision® BACKLITE Impress™ Conventional see-through graphics, with a black layer, whether perforated or non-perforated, lose impact during the hours of darkness with internal illumination, for example inside a retail outlet or bus. When panels are required to be visible at night, this is where Contra Vision® BACKLITE Impress™ products come into their own. Contra Vision® BACKLITE Impress™ products typically comprise a design superimposed on a pattern of translucent white lines with no black layer. Contra Vision® BACKLITE Impress™ night-time view Contra Vision® Impress™ see-through advertisements are economic and proven in hundreds of advertising campaigns These panels typically have a design visible on one side and a ‘ghost’ reverse image seen from the other side. Both sides will allow vision through the transparent gaps between the lines as the human brain can choose to focus on either the design or the other side of the panel. Thus a customer in a retail outlet can see through a Contra Vision® BACKLITE Impress™ panel on a window to outside. Normal internal lighting is enough to ensure the image is visible from outside during darkness but, for added impact, interior lighting can be supplemented, for example by ceiling-mounted spotlights, to make the advertisement stand out. Transparency control The transparency of see-through graphics is determined by the width and spacing of the printed lines. Graphics have greater impact with lower transparency. See-through characteristics are better with higher transparency. Contra Vision® Impress™ allows total control over the transparency of see-though graphics. You can even selectively block areas out to be solid. Selective blocking The required know-how is available free to Contra Vision licensees, which explains how to create the print pattern and artwork for each layer of the Overlap Registration System™ using a vectorial software system such as Adobe® Illustrator® or Adobe® InDesign®. UV inkjet flatbed machines, such as the Inca Spyder 320, build up the required layers in stages whereas machines, such as the Dainippon 2500 or HP Indigo can print all required layers in one pass of the substrate. Screen, litho and flexo printing equipment can also be used for larger volume orders. Printers can now become licensed online, in any country, to practise this patented system using any printing equipment. Contra Vision has a unique understanding of see-through window graphics.
