Pack A Sack information - Indian Rocks Christian School

Dear IRCS Families,
Indian Rocks Christian Schools is partnering with First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks to feed the hungry children in Pinellas
County Schools.
We have been blessed tremendously at IRCS and it is important that we give back to our community. I would like to invite you to
join us in supporting a school-wide service project called “Pack-A-Sack”.
“Pack-A-Sack” is a community outreach program designed to help address the problem of chronic hunger among elementary age
children in our public schools. This has been estimated to be approximately 15% of all children eligible for free lunches in
Pinellas County. “Pack-A-Sack” works with selected Title 1 schools to identify children who exhibit behaviors that indicate
chronic hunger and limit their learning abilities. “Pack-A-Sack” provides sacks to these students with enough food to sustain
them over the weekend. Volunteers from IRCS collect these food items, package them in a bag, and deliver them to the public
school we are assigned to. It costs approximately $160 per student per academic year, which breaks down to approximately $4
per sack per week.
We are establishing Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 27-29 as “Pack A Sack Days” for IRCS. We are asking every able family
to participate by donating any of the items listed below. There will be drop-off locations in the Outreach Center/ Veritas Building,
Family Life Center/Middle and High School Building, the Education Center/Pre-School and Elementary Building.
Each Item must be individually wrapped and within an adequate expiration date.
