Storytime Who Stole Anne‟s Apples? Anne

Storytime
Suggestion: Cut out the pictures from this section and tell the story through them!
Your class/child will listen to you and „see‟ the story through what you say and what
you show them. Before you begin, have the class/child colour this picture in their
books so that they can have a better grasp of the story when it starts. Questions
are available throughout the story to create interaction between storyteller and
the audience. Feel free to improvise!
Who Stole Anne‟s Apples?
Anne loves apples.
She has one after breakfast,
one after lunch,
and one after dinner.
Question: So how many apples does Anne have in a day?
Girls live in pretty houses, but Anne lives on
an apple tree!
Every day, Anne‟s mommy nearly goes crazy telling her to
One day, Anne counts the apples on her tree. [Gasp] Oh no!
Someone has been taking her apples! Who could it be?
Could it be Ben from next
door?
Qn: What is Ben doing? Do you think he is the one stealing Anne‟s
apples?
Could it be Anne‟s pet bird?
“Not me,” chirps the bird.
Could it be Dinah‟s dog?
I don‟t
even like
apples!
Nope.
Could it be … Mommy?
Qn: Line up the pictures of all the suspects. Get your class/child
to find clues. Who do you think has Anne‟s apples?
“But why, Mommy?” Anne asks.
“I‟ll show you why,” Mommy says, grinning. “But first, you have to
come down from that tree.”
Anne climbs down and hurries into Mommy‟s kitchen.
“Tada! Here‟s what I‟ve done with your apples,” Mommy says.
Tada No. 1: Apple Jam
“Mmmh,” Anne thinks, “this will taste delicious with bread!”
Tada No. 2: Apple Ice Cream
“Yum, yum,” Anne thinks, “I love apples, and I love ice-cream!”
Tada No. 3: Mommy‟s Special Apple Pie
?
Whoa, hang on. There isn‟t a
picture here. Show the „?‟ and go on
with the story first. We‟ll come
back to this afterwards …
Mommy says, “Now, do you want to live at home, where there are
apples, apple jam, ice cream and pies? Or do you want to live on
that tree?”
Qn: Where would YOU choose to live?
Or
class/child pick! Since there shouldn‟t be any
punishment for making choices, reward them after they‟ve made a
choice.
Choice of home: Go out for a DELICIOUS slice of apple pie! Or
better yet, bake one together! (Take a picture of the pie and
paste it in the previous empty box. It‟ll make a great memory.)
Choice of tree: What Anne would still get if she lives on that
tree – fresh apples!
“I want to live _________________,” Anne cries.
The End
Activity
After telling the story and placing a picture in the empty box, jumble up the
picture cards. Have your class/child decide on the sequence of appearance
as according to the story. Perhaps you can encourage your class/child to tell
the story this time?
