Board Member Profile: Tracey Ewing, CPA
Tracey Ewing is serving her second term as Treasurer for the Northville Educational Foundation. Serving on the Board of Directors since 2010, Tracey
came to the Northville Educational Foundation a little differently than most
Directors.
Tracey is Vice President of Accounting and Finance at Roush Enterprises,
Inc. Prior to that, Tracey worked in public accounting for Plante Moran. Her
specialty was assisting non-profit foundations with their accounting and finance procedures. After she left Plante Moran, Tracey missed working with
non-profits and was looking for an opportunity to give back.
During the 2009-2010 school year, Tracey learned about the Northville Educational Foundation when she read about the anonymous $1 million pledge
the Foundation had just received. Having students in the district, Tracey knew NEF was the opportunity she
was looking for to share her expertise and help an organization that directly impacted her children. She contacted NEF who jumped at the chance to welcome Tracey to the Board when they learned of her background.
Tracey has lived in Northville for six years with her husband, Mike, and two sons, a third grader at Thornton
Creek Elementary and a sixth grader at Hillside Middle School. She grew up in Livonia and attended Michigan
State University where she received her BA in Accounting. Tracey has spent much time volunteering at her
kids’ schools and is currently participating in a mentoring program with Cornerstone Schools in Detroit. But
she is most pleased with the work she has done with her fellow Board members at NEF.
Specifically, she is proud of the accomplishments of Turf Club which was spearheaded by NEF. Turf Club, a
consortium of several groups in the Northville community, raised over $1 million in a very short period of
time. It was an amazing collaborative effort that resulted in providing something the community was missing
and will enjoy for years to come - a state-of-the-art athletic field and facility.
In addition, Tracey is happy that the Northville Educational Foundation was able to provide the funding to
launch the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program and Diploma Program at the middle and
high schools. This program provides a greater emphasis on learning a second language, embracing cultural
diversity and prepares students to live in a global economy.
Tracey’s goals for NEF and the Northville Public Schools over the next few years is to see the IB program continue to grow and see The Leader In Me program that NEF has helped to fund become fully implemented in
all six elementary schools. Lastly, she hopes to see an increased awareness of NEF among Northville residents and the importance of supporting the local school district through organizations like NEF.
The Northville Educational Foundation is grateful for Tracey’s dedication to NEF and for sharing her time and
financial expertise.
