Find and Live Your True Calling: How to Navigate the

Find and Live Your True Calling:
How to Navigate the Forest of Choices
This report is dedicated to people who are trying to find their true calling. If you’re feeling lost,
unfulfilled, and passionless, it’s time to look for what is missing in your life and find the path that excites
and inspires you! If you think about it, work is the thing you do the most hours of each day, so you want
to make that time count and be meaningful.
Starting the Journey
It can be confusing to choose among the wide variety of options available to you. They can look like a
dense forest with no path to show you the way. Many questions come to mind. What should you be
doing with your life? How can you find satisfying work? What is your purpose and how can you fulfill it?
To sit back and consider all of the options before deciding on a clear path can be daunting. For some,
this task makes them feel like they are not qualified for anything except what they have always done for
their employer. Others feel they are good at so many things that they should go ahead and do them all,
taking the “throw it up against the wall” approach to see what sticks.
This special report focuses on the idea of navigating through the forest of choices into a realm of
personal satisfaction, high energy, self-motivation, and fulfillment by way of finding your True Calling
and working in your ideal vocation.
When the work has meaning and a higher purpose, you accomplish more with less energy, and allows
for sustained energy over a longer period, fueled by the rush of accomplishment.

The truth is that you came into this life with a purpose, a True Calling that is uniquely yours. It is a
culmination of your experiences, skills, interests, and passions. You have been on the path your entire
life, learning lessons along the way. You have been preparing for the moment when you step into your
True Calling. The key is to understand how all of the pieces fit together, identifying the path that will
allow you to make money, and let you feel great about the work you are doing.
There have probably been times in your life where you have pushed yourself in a direction that felt
disconnected from your ultimate goals and who you are. This can be exhausting and frustrating to push
so hard and not feel good about what you are doing. People do not seem to appreciate your efforts and
you begin to doubt that you have any real value. The truth is that you have been building your
experience and skills that will culminate into your real work, your True Calling.
For many years, I served the work of others, performing dutifully for companies in achieving their goals.
I helped them get organized, selected and developed their employees, and did whatever else they
needed me to do. Part of me was engaged in the company vision and my heart found expression for
“Each man has his own
vocation; his talent is his call.
There is one direction in which
all space is open to him.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
my true vocation and purpose by helping people get into the right job position. I did not realize it at the
time, but I was on a preliminary version of my true path.

Even though I was limited in the ways I was able to express my true work within the confines of a
corporate structure, I still found a way to do so. In my private time, I earned a Master’s degree in
psychology and worked on developing my skills in the esoteric arts. This combination helped me further
attain the knowledge, tools, and understanding I needed to eventually be able to work independently
and serve my clients in a way that is a true and full expression of my purpose.
The journey, even the time spent working in a restricted environment, taught me many lessons, and
allowed me to learn many things that ultimately led me to my true calling and the way I can best serve
my clients. Without the full range of experience, I would not have the same capabilities or depth of
understanding that I have today.
The Three States of Work Mindset
There are three states of being in your work:
1) You are working at a job or business that you dislike; the work does not motivate you. You are bored,
frustrated, and need to force yourself out of bed in the morning.
2) You work just to get money (it may or may not be as much as you would like to be earning), going
through the motions all week, and then living for the weekends. You have become ineffective or have
been doing the job for so long that it is no longer a challenge.
3) You are doing work you love, making the money you want, and having free time to spend in
whatever way you would like.
Which one sounds like you?
If you selected #1 or #2, ask yourself how long you have been feeling this way. Then ask yourself how
much longer you are willing to feel this way without doing something about it!
When you are no longer excited about the work you are doing, it is like being
lost in the woods without a guide. Do you want to keep going down the same
path, unable to navigate the forest, and not being able to get out of the woods?
Or do you want to clear a path more suited to who you are and be a trailblazer
determining your own destiny?
Imagine moving your career in a direction that takes you further, faster, while
using less energy. Imagine waking up in the morning, excited about what the
day will bring, and looking forward to the impact you make with your gifts and
talents. This is what it feels like to have fulfilling work; it gives your life
purpose, it gives your life meaning…AND it creates an energy around you that attracts more of what you
desire.

Taking the First Steps
The very first thing you need to do is decide that you want things to be different. Without this step, you
will continue to stay stuck in the clearing you have found, figuring it is safer to stay where you are and
live with discontent rather than finally breaking free of the mundane and creating a life that is happy,
productive, and fulfilling. Your readiness, drive, and fortitude must come from with you. No one can
make you change for you or make you want to change.
The second key to the journey is alignment between your work and your true nature. The unique gifts
that you brought into the world when you were born are key indicators of your ideal vocation. Being
aware of how to use your talents to express your purpose is your primary obligation in this lifetime. This
is how you are able to help others while living the best life possible.
Leading a fulfilling, rich life is the hallmark of being in the right vocation. Taking the dense loam at the
base of the forest and using it to fertilize your dreams. Each tree you have encountered along the way
leading you to the next section of the path, your knowledge and ability accumulating as you go.
Realizing your true occupation opens the way for ultimate transformation of the Self. You are destined
to develop into your greatest potential by virtue of doing the work what you are meant to do in this
lifetime.
“The minute you begin to do
what you want to do, it's a
different kind of life.”
R. Buckminster Fuller
Get a Clear View…Soar Above the Trees
Think of yourself as a bird capable of flying above the trees to see where you are and the way to get to
where you want to go. Have you simply been sitting in a tree afraid to take the leap? Have you become
too comfortable in the nest or is there a denser, bigger, better tree waiting for you to build in?
It can be scary to go beyond where you have been; sometimes you are most comfortable with what you
are familiar with, like treading down the same path you have always gone down. It is well worn and you
know every rock and curve in the trail. You know how long it is, where it leads, which logs you will pass
along the way, and where it ends. Repeatedly walking this path can also become quite tedious and
boring – there is nothing new to stimulate you, there is no motivation to branch off and try a different
direction.
You can get to where you have always gone by continuing to walk this trail, just as you could perform
satisfactorily in a mundane job. It is sufficient. However, that old path presents no new challenges,

provides no new perspectives, and takes you to the same place every time. This trail has taken you as
far as it can go. Ruts are beginning to form from walking too many miles on it, and you are starting to
lose your pep. You can keep trying to fix it and patch it, but it is never going to be what you ultimately
want or need.
There comes a point where you can no longer fix it and you have to change to a different path –one
paved to fit you perfectly. This new path enables you to walk upon it more quickly, without fear of
twisting an ankle on a rock or in a hole. One that makes you smile every time you walk down it. One
that makes you feel excited and inspired as you walk down it. It feels fresh, has new energy, gives the
joy of seeing a different part of the forest, and provides a smoother surface.
To discover where to place your new path, fly deeper into the forest;
look at all the trees you have visited and then soar high above the
treetops. Do not just go by each individual tree you have experienced,
but see what they look like in a group from a higher viewpoint. Do you
need to remove dead trees in the area that are prohibiting growth and
blocking the path? Is there a patch that looks healthier and greener than
another is? Is there underbrush in certain areas that keeps you from
getting a foothold on your path? What area gives you the best location
for the new path?
Making the Right Choices
There are many paths to choose from, so where do you begin? You
narrow down the scope of what you are looking for. Which view do you prefer? Do you want more or
less animals along your path? Do you want bigger trees or more wildflowers? What do you want your
life along this path to look like?
Determine what is important to you; flexible hours, opportunity for creativity, more control, a chance to
help others, more money? Take stock of where you are. What are you happy with and what would
you change if there were absolutely no obstacles in your path. Think expansively. There is no limit to
what you can imagine in this exercise.
It is not easy to narrow your path and clearly see where you would best serve yourself and others with
your True Calling. Sometimes you need help from someone who can look at your experiences, skills, and
passions objectively and see how they all fit together.

When I worked in recruitment for a large corporation, the most important part of my work was
screening candidates. The goal was to get them into the right fit job, not just the job I was hiring for or
the job where their skills matched the minimum qualifications, but the job they would love and where
they would excel. My goal was to find them the position where they would be happy and feel fulfilled.
By making the perfect match, it was good for the employee and good for the company. The person was
more likely to be a top performer, stay with the company, and become expert in the job they had or
achieve higher-ranking positions over time.
Today, I do this for my private clients, whether they want to work for someone else or for themselves, it
is crucial that they understand what is missing in their current work and in their lives. Over and over,
I’ve seen that when clients get into their best fit occupational role, it no longer feels like “work,” and
their day is no longer stressful, but rather brings them happiness and fulfillment on a regular basis.
“A man knows when he has
found his vocation when he
stops thinking about how to
live and begins to live.”
Thomas Merton
As I followed my path and expressed my purpose through my business, there was a deeper level of
transformation than I ever expected. And the growth continues. Whether you are searching for a
direction for your career or your business, it boils down to this: when you fully understand your true
vocation and the deeper meaning behind your work, everything falls into place and things progress
faster with less effort than you ever thought possible.
If the path you are traveling feels far off from where you would like to be and where you will ultimately
serve, all of your experiences are helping you prepare to be effective in your true path, purpose, and
vocation. You may not even know what that even looks like. You may be depressed, anxious, or have a
sense of feeling lost waiting to discover your direction. That is the time to get help sorting through
where you have been, where you are now, and where you are going.
Just because you’re going down one road, doesn’t mean that you can’t turn
off and check out a road that is calling to be explored. You may not have to
take a completey different road, just make a few alterations and use skills
you already have. You may not even realize the nature of your wonderful
skills and how you can best use them. You may think that the things that
come easiest have no value, because they do not require making a huge

effort. These are the exact skills that are your gifts to use in this lifetime, which is why it comes so easily
to you.
Self Exploration Exercises to Find Your True Calling
There are many tools available to help you uncover your ideal vocation, mission, and purpose. Let’s
start with self-exploration methods. It is best to find some uninterrupted time to complete these
exercises.
1. List all the skills and talents you have, then look them over and see which patterns emerge. Are
they all creative skills? Do they lend themselves to organizing the work or possessions of
others? Is there a grouping of skills that you prefer over others?
2. List all of the things for which your friends come to you for help. Is there a similarity among the
requests?
3. What major problem have you personally overcome in your life that you could help others
solve?
4. Make a list of what motivates you. What are the top two things that stand out?
5. What did you want to be when you were seven years old? In what ways have you cultivated
skills in the areas of your childhood dream?
Getting Help in Finding and Living Your True Calling
When you find your ideal direction, you get on the road to ultimate freedom, success, and overall
satisfaction. Making the right adjustment is critical to success. There are a few ways you can approach a
career change. You can try random things and see which one you like the best, or you can do it
elegantly, smoothly, and with a plan that dramatically increases your likelihood of success. The plan, the
direction, and the motivation are all important components of making a switch.
It is hard to really narrow your focus and see your life and abilities objectively. That’s where the help of
a coach or mentor can save you time and frustration in getting on the ideal path. With professional
guidance, you can find that big, beautiful tree in the forest that is the perfect expression of your unique
qualities and your purpose.
You will quickly have a clear path AND a plan to achieve it when working with an effective coach.
Setting goals, creating an action plan, and measuring the results are all benefits of working with the right
coach. Just as it is important for you to love what you do and make money doing it, it is also important
that you choose the right coach that aligns with your energy and vibrational level.
