We dare you to read this article in a British accent.
by Alyssa and Meena
The Rebel Weekly.
You’re reading it right
now but do you ever
wonder who makes
these amazing articles
or who keeps this
newsletter alive?
Well, my name is Alyssa and I am co-writing
this article with
Yasmeen, otherwise
known as Meena. She
says, “Hi, and you must
be (insert name here).
Joslynn said you have
a nice name. She is
another prolific journalist on our team.
However, you will never catch her editing.
Unlike our fabulous
editors such as Celeste, Alison, Moraima
or Yasmeen (the same
Yasmeen that helped
me write this article…
yes, she does both
jobs which practically
makes her a superhero) they all work hard
to make the Rebel
Weekly possible. If
one of the editors are
reading this right now,
you’re doing great.
Keep up the good
work.
But that’s not all because together we
work like a well-oiled
machine, each of us a
gear turning and
churning, ticking and
tocking, working hard
to create articles just
like this one (and still
we are not paid -_- ).
Some of these “gears”
go by names like David, Ellie, Nicole, Testimony, Ailady,
Michelle, Jonathan,
Loryanne, Rosalinda
and Eleanor. Here is
what they have to say
about the Journalism
class. Students like
David and Rosalinda
referred to this class
as relaxing and calming while people like
Michelle, Loryanne

and Testimony see
this class as fun and a
great place to release
creative energy. Others, such as Ellie and
Ailady, like this class
because they simply
love writing. Above all,
Eleanor sees this class
as a great opportunity
to learn new things
and share ideas and
opinions with the
world!
In conclusion, we are
the press and it was
great talking to you
but…did you read this
article in a British
accent?

Which Do You Prefer?
By Eleanor & Loryanne
Galaxy v. iPhone? The iPhone6 or
Samsung Galaxy? THAT is the
question. Which phone will crack
easily? Which phone do people
usually have longer? Which phone
is thicker? Are they both water
resistant? Which phone would you
rather have?
iPhones and Galaxy are the most
popular phones on market and
they both come with high ratings.
It would be difficult to tell which
phone is more successful. According to
www.businessinsider.com, “One of
the best things about owning an
iPhone is that you get a lot of the
newest apps first before they arrive on android and Samsung.”
iPhone’s are sold more often than
the Galaxy. iPhone’s have existed
longer than the Galaxy so some
people believe that maxes them
more reliable. The newer iPhones
are going to be made with stronger glass. They have an 8MP camera
Galaxy, on the other hand, is water resistant. Also, a Galaxy has a
longer battery life and has a longer and thicker screen. It has 16

like or don’t like. Both phones
have about the same storage
space and they both cost about
the same. The Galaxy is much bigger than the iPhone which some
people like and others don’t. In
addition, both phones have been
shown to be reliable. While over
500 million iPhone’s have been
sold, Galaxy has become a strong
competitor. If you were given the
choice, which one would you prefer?
It really all depends on the personal preference—the things you

Dear Mr. Green and Ms.
Gold,
I have a sick family member
and I’m really worried about
them. It’s distracting me
from school. What should I
do to stay focused?
From,
Worried Kid
Dear Worried Kid,
I know sick family can be
worrisome. I myself have to
take care of Dear Ms. Gold
right now. She came down

with the flu a few days ago.
Instead of worrying and dwelling on the bad things try and
fill your head with happy and
optimistic thoughts such as,
“She’ll be able to rest today”
or “He’ll get better soon.” This
will help you worry less and will
hopefully help you to focus on
schoolwork. If you continue to
worry and thinking positive
thoughts doesn’t help, you
should talk to another family
member, a teacher your trust,
or maybe a school counselor.
There is no definite way not to
worry, but you can always try.
Remember, “Worry does not empty
tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties
today of its strength.” ― Corrie
ten Boom.
Sincerely,
5 P’s Prompt
by Joslynn
“If you’re not five minutes early,
you’re late.” That is a quote most
of us have heard before. Why is
it so important to be early?
Being prompt means to be early,
punctual, and to do things without
delay. When you are punctual it
shows others that you are responsible and reliable. In class, it
helps you to be on great terms
with your teacher. It shows them
that you are a trustworthy student. Teachers believe that being
on time to class is important because, “the first few minutes of
class are crucial,” according to
Mrs. Ongaro. Attendance is taken
in those first few minutes and
many classes have to do a focus.
“Being early helps you get the full
learning experience,” states Ms.
Molina.
It is important to be early so you
could be responsible in other people’s eyes. It helps to get people
to trust you and like you. You may
not always be five minutes early,
but you should never be late.
Prompt is one of the “5 P’s” here
on campus. Students are expected to be prompt and may even
get rewarded for it. Getting to
class on time and arriving to your
arrival and dismissal areas quickly
are great ways to be prompt.
Getting to class early is good because it gives you a chance to get
ready for class and relax.

Worry
By Annie
As it plays on and never stops going,
the record starts
over and over again, while I listen to
the sweet and bold
piano play from down stairs.
It stops I never thought it would stop
, I try going down
stairs as I tried opening the door it
was locked did they
forget about me?
I looked outside the small triangular
window all I can see
is the drops of rain coming down and
the hand print I left.
I heard footsteps coming, I head slam
ming as if someone
was looking for me, and the slams got
closer and closer as
I start to hide in a corner.
The last slam was the attic where I
was there silently
crying, wondering what was going to
happen to me.
Pop Stars
by Rosalinda
I ask myself, why do girls go so insane when either boy bands or pop
stars come on stage or they sing a
song? In an online article titled,
“Why do young girls go crazy over
bands, singers or actors?” it states
that people go crazy because the
boy bands/pop stars are either cute
or they sing very well. That is one
reason but does that really explain
why some people seem to be obsessed with them? Nicki Minaj and
One Direction are trending today.
Many kids like their music and we
see them as role models. I conducted an anonymous interview with a
student who said the reason he goes
so insane for Nicki Minaj is because
she is so beautiful.
One Direction, who is also now
trending, is a famous boy band and
is one of the biggest sensations
around. Almost every girl likes them.
There was a recent concert that
many girls attended and they either
fell down because they saw them or
they just started crying. Why do
they respond this way? I interviewed another student who is one
of their fans who said she likes
them because they care about every
one of their fans and they sing awesome.
So what do you think? What explains the reason why so many young
fans go crazy over singers, bands, or
famous actors?
