Introducing CONVEX ,the plate beveling machine
mounted on a unique manipulator which can create
DOUBLE- SIDED X bevels by a simple quick turn of 180°
eliminating time consuming rotation of plates.

The CONVEX shears the bevels ready for welding on the
linear plates of any type of shearable materials from 6 to 40
mm. in thickness, with a minimum width of 70 mm and
minimum length of 150 mm.

Beveling angle is possible to adjust from 15° to 50°
without replacing any parts.

The pressure bar unit and the piece supporting unit can
be adjusted in height and are supplied with visible
graduated scales.

The machine design allows for transferring the machine
or for holding it during the machining of long and heavy

The process of J-beveling is very similar to the standard
beveling.
400mm/min is a feed speed when reasonable amount of material is
removed and machine is not overloaded (the light is not blinking).
However practical tests are recommended for each type of material
and thickness.
Special head with round plates (inserts) is needed, as well as
angle attachment with height adjustment to fix the proper
position of ALLIGATOR with regards to the machining plate,
depending on depth of the bevel and number of passes needed
to achieve the required bevel size (depth).
What is the speed per meter @ 1, 2 or 3 etc positions of the speed
control knob
It is recommended not to exceed 4mm in one pass.
With J-beveling only one feed direction is possible, whereas
standard beveling is possible both ways.
The linear speed will be approx. 300/min with J-bevel milling
head.

For these reasons it is not possible to determine what speed in m/min
corresponds to figures 1,2, 3 etc when machine is under load.
What is the type of head used in the ALLIGATOR
Can the machine be used continuously?
Operating the machine at practically maximum duty (with overload
indicator flashing temporarily) is generally permissible. However, one
has to pay attention to motor temperature which should not exceed
85ºC. The Motor of the machine can operate in high temperatures,
but prolonged overheating can lead to winding damage. Because of
that, after having operated at maximum duty for a long time (max. 1
hour) stop operating for 10-15 min. Try not to cool the motor by
leaving it running idle. When running idle, motors of that type become
heated much quicker than when operating at rated duty.

However working length is only 2m, because the machine must be
20cm beyond the plate when start beveling the beginning of the plate
from each side (20cm from the left and 20cm from the right).
Using 3 tracks it is possible to work on any long length of plates.
How much time does it take to train a operator in using the
Alligator ?
A New Operator can be trained in one day.

The set-up of the machine takes about 5 minutes.

The correct angle selector set has to be replaced.

Can the ALLIGATOR be used on curved plates?
It is not possible to use Alligator on curved plates, because guide
track must remain straight.

What is the length of plates that can be worked on by the

Single guide track (rail) is 1200mm long. There are 2 guide tracks in
standard equipment delivered with the machine. So, it means track
length of 2,4m altogether.
What type of motor is used in the ALLIGATOR ?

The Head is equipped with TCT inserts and the machine is
delivered with head being already equipped with 7 inserts.

accessories required to be bought for J-beveling ?

Please note that a length between 2 lines on the scale stands for
approx. 1mm of head feed towards the material.

What is the maximum cut that can be made in one pass ?
It depends on material type, operator's qualifications, sharpness of
the inserts and quality of material before beveling, etc.
The maximum feed of ALLIGATOR, when not under load is 1,4m/min
(idle run). The speed under load is lower and it strongly depends on
sort and amount of material being removed.

Does the machine remove material when moving in both
directions ?
Yes, the machine works in both directions and does not need
therefore an empty pass. However, when making J-bevels, it works
only traveling left to right.
What is the minimum thickness of plates that can be worked
on by ALLIGATOR
¡
It is not recommended using Alligator with plates below 10mm
of thickness. The reason is that thinner plates could bend, thus
unable beveling.
Can the ALLIGATOR also be used for facing of Plate edges ?
Yes, using the ZERO Degree angle attachment which comes with
std. set.
