Group Outing Rates and Information

2017
Thank you for scheduling / considering your golf outing (minimum of 12 players) at the Breckenridge Golf
Club. The golf course is a 27-hole, championship layout designed by Jack Nicklaus. In May 2014, Golfweek
rated Breckenridge as one of the "Top 50 Municipal Courses" in the nation (#25). Golf Digest magazine, rates
Breckenridge a Four ½ Star Places to Play, facility. Summit Daily readers annually vote Breckenridge as the
“Best of the Summit”. Set in a beautiful mountain valley, with terrific panoramic views, golf will almost be
secondary to the surroundings.
If you desire our help and expertise, the Breckenridge Golf Club staff will assist you with the tournament
scoring, tee time pairings, and golf cart assignments. Closest to the pin, long drive and putting contests can also
be arranged. Please contact the staff in advance of your play date(s) for arranging any of these services. If your
group consists of golfers who seldom play, you might consider a scramble format. I have attached a scramble
rules format sheet for your convenience. We can also arrange for you to have rules sheet for other formats also.
We would like to keep your role as the coordinator as simple as possible. If you are planning to purchase golf
related items for your event, please keep in mind that our award winning golf shop can assist you. Any food and
beverage that your group requires can be made through the Clubhouse Restaurant. Box lunches, buffets, and
barbecues can be tailored to your needs. Beverage / snack carts are located on the course for the golfer’s
convenience. The phone number for Clubhouse Restaurant is 970-453-3399.
On the following page is our rate matrix including volume discounts. You will need to complete the
attached agreement and forward with your deposit for us to hold your date. The completed form and
deposit must be sent by May 1. If you make your reservation inside of May 1, the deposit is due within 10

We look forward to hosting your event.

BRECKENRIDGE GOLF CLUB – SHOTGUN START POLICIES
Shotgun starts are utilized at Breckenridge primarily during the week and only for groups with 80 or more
players up to 144 players.
If the group has less than 124 players, the Golf Club reserves the right to book additional players,
outside of the group, to fill a shotgun of 124 players.
Shotgun start player numbers must be verified 21 days in advance of play. If group numbers drop
below shotgun minimums, the group will be switched to tee times with 10-minute intervals.
Shotgun Start outings must have the appropriate deposit sent by May 1, or within 10 working days if the
booking is made inside of May 1.
Pricing for Shotgun events is $85/player during Low Season and $135/player for High Season. There are
no discounts for groups utilizing a Shotgun format. Fee includes 18-holes of golf, cart and practice balls
and a $2/player gratuity.
An 18-hole course “Buy-out” may be purchased for $13,400 during High Season. This includes 18-holes
of golf for up to 124 golfers, and includes cart, range balls, and a $1000 credit towards merchandise
prizes.
Groups with less than 80 players that need to start and complete their golf in a timely manner, should
consider these options:
 Tee off two different course rotations and score the common nine holes if tournament scoring
is required. Long Drive, Closest to the Pin and other events can be held as well with this
format.
 Callaway scoring system works great for this event if an 18-hole score is requested (either
team or individual).
 64 players can be accommodated with tee times in a period of 1 hr 10 minutes from the first to
the last group using one course. A group of 48 players can tee off within 30 minutes of each
other using two different courses.


All spectators must rent and ride in a cart. Children may ride between two adults at no charge if under


Carts may be restricted to paths during very wet or dry conditions. Golfers with physical


State liquor laws do not allow customers to bring beer, wine or liquor on to the premises.

SCRAMBLE FORMAT AND RULES
1. Each member of the team hits his or her tee shot. The team then decides which is the best shot. All
members of the team then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.
A team score is then recorded and the team moves to the next hole. If a team handicap has been
established, it will be deducted at the end of the round.
2. Each member of the team must use a minimum of TWO tee-shots during the round.
3. Each team member may place his ball within one club length of the selected shot, no nearer
to the hole.
4. If the selected shot is played from a hazard, bunker, rough, second cut of rough, fairway or fringe
of the green, the ball may be placed within one club length of the selected shot no nearer the hole, but
it must remain in the hazard, bunker, rough, second cut of rough, fairway, or fringe of the green.
When putting, the ball must be placed within two inches of the selected shot, no nearer the hole.
5. Men play from the SILVER or GREEN tee markers, women from the RED tee markers.
6. All ties will be decided by matching scorecards beginning on the first hole, of the first nine played.

Good Luck and Play well!

Here is an alternative scoring method for golfers without established handicaps.
The Callaway System:
When the Callaway System is in use, all competitors tee off and play stroke play, scoring in the normal fashion
with one exception - double par is the maximum score on any given hole (i.e., on a par 4, 8 is the maximum
score).
Following the round, gross scores are tallied. Based on each golfer's gross score (using the double par
maximum), each golfer tallies up a prescribed number of worst scores from their scorecard, then applies a
second adjustment that may add or subtract additional strokes.
The result is a total that is something similar to a net score using real handicaps.
A couple points:

The higher a competitor's gross score, the more holes that player will be deducting

Holes deducted begin with the highest score; if a player gets to deduct one hole and his highest score is
an 8, then an 8 is what gets deducted

Scores on the 17th and 18th holes may not be deducted, even if one (or both) of them is the competitor's
highest score.

Even after high scores are added together for the allowance, the second adjustment must be made; this
adjustment might add or subtract 2, 1 or 0 strokes from a player's Callaway handicap.

Once the appropriate number of high scores has been tallied, and the second adjustment is made, the
player is left with a net score.

Half scores are rounded up. If a player is deducting half of 7, then that 3.5 is rounded up to 4.
So using the chart is a matter of finding the gross score, looking across the row for the handicap deduction,
then looking down the column for the adjustment.

max.)
