Our last full month of Kindergarten! I can’t believe it’s coming to an end. :( April 2 is the day we take part in Light It Up
Blue each year to bring awareness to autism. Since we were out for Spring Break, we all wore blue as a school and the
kindergarten class learned about autism and the reason why were wore blue on April 4th. We also focused on the life cycles of
several insects. We learned about the stages of a honeybee, a grasshopper, and a housefly. We also learned about the life
cycle of a frog, chicken, and a sea turtle. The students’ favorite video that week was watching a snapping turtle use his tongue
to lure a fish into his mouth! We have also been learning about money in math. We made a money book about the penny,
nickel, dime, and quarter and facts we learned. We also learned about the 3 R’s and Dr. Minear’s students held our spring
Open House and had centers set up for us and visiting parents. We had so much fun learning about reducing, reusing, and
recycling and how to help our planet more. We learned about Cystic Fybrosis from watching Libby Hankins explaining what it is,
how it affects her, and her daily routine. We then made cards for her and had “Dollars for Libby Day” where we raised money
and mailed it all to her in North Carolina to show how proud we are of her and her progress in getting her new lungs. We also
really enjoyed our visit from the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. They were entertaining as always! We visited the Children of
the Village in Bellamy and ate popcorn while we watched Daniel the Tiger, too. We can’t wait to go back!
May will bring our study on the state of Alabama, our Carol Merrill Dance and Gymnastics Recital, Muffins for Mom,
and Spring Fling. We will also go to the UWA Cinema and watch Zootopia. But most importantly, it will bring Kindergarten
Graduation. This has been a bittersweet year for me as I have taught my son. I have also had the pleasure of seeing all of my
students grow academically and laugh together with such a pure joy. I hope they will leave the Campus School with a solid
foundation for the years of learning to come but also many loving memories that they will cherish years from now. They really
do not know how much they are loved in these walls, even after they are too old to come here.
MRS. ANGIE AND MS. ALLIE PRE-K
We returned from Spring Break to a fun Bug Theme! Pre-K students learned how many body parts most insects have. They also
learned that a spider is not an insect because it has 8 legs instead of 6. Our class is observing the metamorphosis of caterpillars
into butterflies.
We also learned how to take care of our earth and its resources by reducing, recycling, and reusing. We had a great time
reusing pizza boxes to create a Pizza Parlor in the Home Living area. To extend this fun lesson, students made their own pizzas
for snack. Campus School students have been very busy preparing for the Dance Recital.

MRS. BYRNE P3- K4 COMBO
April Showers Bring May Flowers! We have learned all about spring, plants, and insects during
the month of April. We went on a bug hunt around campus and found ants, bees, and
ladybugs. Our class learned about the life cycles of animals and insects that we see in the
spring. We had a nature scavenger hunt to look for spring animals where we found birds,
caterpillars, butterflies, spiders, ducks and turtles. Our class celebrated Earth Day with our
“Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” unit. We learned how to sort our trash by paper, plastic and
metal at our recycling center in our classroom. We also had fun in our very own “Pizzeria” in
our kitchen center. The students learned how to read and order from the pizza menu, make a
pizza with lots of toppings, and how to perform all the jobs in a pizza kitchen. The best part was
making a homemade pizza for snack! We ended the month with our “Bug’s Life” field trip to
CHOM. May will be a fun month celebrating Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, and our end of
the year program. Hang on for a fun-filled month ahead!
MRS. ALISON P3
Spring is in the air! We have been busy little bees in preschool this month. We have learned all
about bugs, animals, recycling-the 3 R’s, and celebrated the Week of the Young Child with
dancing, Taco Tuesday, artwork and singing songs. We recognized Light it Up Blue Day for
Autism Awareness, raised dollars for Libby, been busy little butterflies practicing for the recital.
Also, we made our very own pizza. We took a spring walk around campus to look for bugs
using a magnifying glass. You can only imagine the types of bugs we saw…or didn’t see along
the walk. The children attended SWAP day where they participated in Earth Day activities.
They got to take home their very own bird feeder. Also, the children enjoyed Mrs. Annie
coming to read an earth story to the children and make tear paper art earths. It is hard to
believe that the school year is almost over at the Campus School. It has been the best! Thanks
for all you do for your child’s education.

SPECIAL PEOPLE MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF CHILDREN.
THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR SPECIAL PEOPLE.
PTO NEWS
I am in disbelief that I am writing a PTO update for our final month already this year! I also cannot believe that I will
not have any of my own children at the Campus School for the first time in the 5 years that we have been back in
Livingston! We truly are so lucky to have a fantastic school right here in the tiny town of Livingston, and I feel so blessed
that both of my kids will have graduated from the Campus School. With that being said, if anyone would like to be in
charge of PTO next year, please let me know. Though we just started this organization this year, I felt like we accomplished
a lot by taking some of the task and pressure off of the teachers, but there is so much more potential out there. So if you
are a parent that has a mind that is always turning on how to do things differently, make improvements, and are energetic
and passionate about the Campus School, we need you! Please get in touch with Ms. Kim or myself if you are interested.
May will be busy with the end of the year program, field trips, conferences, the CMA recital, and more, but one of
the biggest things we need to do is to take time out to show our teachers how much we appreciate them! We will be
celebrating and honoring our teachers and work studies the week of May 2nd-6th. There will be more information coming
home soon on how you can contribute and truly show our appreciation.
Thank you for helping get this PTO group started this year, and for being involved in your child’s activities and
education. I can’t wait to see what this group does in the future! Thank you for allowing me to help get it started.
Ms. Annie
