Fly Foxx Training Manual
OBTAINING OLCC PERMIT
You must have an OLCC permit or a temporary service permit application in order to work a promotion
sampling alcohol. It is the law. You, the store or bar, and everyone else involved can get a large fine and
lose liquor licenses/ permits.
You must fill out a Service Permit Application. You can find this form online:
www.oregon.gov/olcc/pages/service_permits.aspx
The Service Permit Application is good for 45 days from the date it is signed. In order to complete the
process, you must take a test. Please do so in the first week as it takes a few weeks for OLCC to send
your actual permit in the mail.
www.happyhourtraining.com is one site that provides the test so you can receive your initial OLCC
permit or to renew your OLCC Permit.
BOOKING EVENTS
An email will be sent out with the available shifts. Please email back letting us know what shift you
would like to work. If you are chosen for that event, you will be sent a calendar invite. Please confirm
that you received the email. Once you are scheduled for that promotion, that means you are 100%
committed to following through with that job.
If at any point you feel like you won’t be able to go to the promotion that you have committed to, you
MUST alert both Sherry and Amy immediately. Text, Email, and call until you have reached one of us.
We need as much time as possible to replace you.
If Model cancels a booked promotion within 2 days of event, Model will be penalized $20. If Model
cancels day of or does not show up to a booked promotion; Model will be Penalized $60. NO SHOWS are
not acceptable and Model will lose their spot on The Fly Foxx team.
PRIOR TO EVENT
Two days before event Model make two phone calls. First is to the liquor store or bar to confirm the
day, time, products, etc. The second call is to the sales rep to confirm and get any additional details.
Many times the rep doesn’t answer, leaving a voice mail is sufficient.
After the 2 phone calls have been made, Model will email Sherry and Amy letting us know the
confirmations have been made. This is our way of making sure we have ZERO NO SHOWS! We will
mark you off as confirmed. If we don’t receive an email, we will start to reach out to you.
COMMUNICATION
Communication is key in our business. We encourage Models to call and to email. Fly Foxx will respond
to Models in a timely manner. In turn, we appreciate prompt replies when we reach out to Models.
Please be timely in responding. It is very much appreciated.

Black table cloth
1 oz. clear plastic sample cups (Be sure to bring enough)
Small note book pad and pen
Camera/ phone to take pictures (Camera is preferred)
OLCC Permit and ID (Must be on your person during your event
Table set up:
Ask an employee where they would like you to set up. Start with your black table cloth and nicely
arrange your chill bucket and your tasting bottles. Ask the staff if you can bring the product from their
shelf to your table; this makes it convenient for customers to buy. If you see a branded decorative piece
in the store you may ask if you can use it on your table.
Notepad:
-
Some brand facts to refer to/ recipes
Store Name and Date
Who did you check in with and at what time
Sales prices of the products
Number of people you interacted with
Number of samples given
How many bottles of each brand sold
Brand Knowledge:
Knowing your product and drink recipes is the key to making sales. Typically, people want to know the
following: Who makes it? Where is it from? What grain is it? What is it made with? What infusion is in
it? What does it taste like? What is it good with? Are there other flavors? How many times has it been
distilled? Where is it from? What is the percentage of alcohol?
Since you are not allowed to drink before or during the event, you might not know what a product tastes
like. As people sample the product, ask them what it tastes like. You can in turn tell the next person…
If you do not know an answer to a question, please refer the customer to the products website.
Pouring – Before you pour, you MUST ask for ID for anyone who looks under 45 years of age. There are
undercover agents that will be visiting. Both you and the store can get fined if you don’t ask.
You are allowed to sample out a total of ½ ounce to a person in a single day. If a person wants to sample
more than one product, make sure you don’t pour over ½ ounce. They only need a small amount to
taste.
***Do not let anyone touch the sample bottles and do not walk away from your table!!!***
Sales Techniques –
The best way to make a sale is to be personable. Your energy will feed others; being full of energy,
funny and playful, will go a long way! As someone enters the store, greet them with,” Good Afternoon,
can I interest you in a sample? I have different whiskeys here…” As they approach your table, introduce
your product. They will tell you what they want to try. As you pour the small sample, begin to educate
them on the product. Tell them how smooth or good it tastes. After they try it, ask them what they
think. Ask them what they normally drink. Open the dialogue.
If someone tells you that they think the whiskey made in an oak barrel tastes like it has honey in it, just
go with it. Please don’t correct people.
Pictures –
Pictures are a very important part of the job. We need pictures for the job to be complete. The liquor
company we are representing expects great pictures. They want to see people enjoying/ sampling/
buying their products. They want to see the model representing their brand. We want to see the
following pictures:
-
You with your set up table
You interacting with a customer
Customers sampling/ buying the product.
A few ideas of how to ask someone if you can take a picture:
-
I see you like the product, do you mind if I take a picture of you holding up your cup or bottle?
Would you mind helping me complete my 10 promotional pictures, to help validate that I’m
doing my job?
Uploading/ Resizing – Please send your pictures over in the recap. Please crop out other brands or what
may not be necessary.
***Please note, you must have all the pictures requested. They must be clear pictures. If you don’t
provide what has been requested, your pay may be reduced.
End of Shift5 minutes before your shift ends, start your clean-up. Pack up your personal items, and put the stores
bottles back on the shelves. Ask the staff if they can look up your total sales. Be sure to say Thank you to
the staff for having you. You want to make friends with them as they can help promote and make sales
for you. If you do a great job, stores will personally request you in the future.
Sales Goal –
Your sales will vary between brands and price points. During a 2 hour promotion, your goal should be
no less than 8 bottles. During a 3 hour promotion, your goal should be no less than 10 bottles.
Left over sample bottles –
Take the bottles with you if Fly Foxx gives them to you. Leave the bottles there if the store gives them to
you. You will need to Return the bottles as we use them again.

You will find our recap on our website at www.flyfoxx.com. It will need to be submitted no later than 72

You will need to pick-up your product the week before your promotion. Please call the bar and the sales

Sales / Sales Techniques
As fun as it is to work promotions at bars, it is very important to make your sales. Your goal at a bar with
100 in attendance is to sell no less than 20 drinks.
When you approach a group at a table, have your best smile on!!! Bring your energy - you are there to
get people excited about the brand! Get them up to the bar to buy a drink! You can say, “Hi everyone!
Tonight we are here to promote Jim Beam’s Maple and Hardcore Cider! Who would like to try a
sample?” Your partner will then step in with the tray of swag and show the customers what the brand
giveaways are. “If you order a drink special from the bar, I will give you one of these fabulous items!!”
Don’t spend too much time talking to one person. Keep moving to make sure you reach everyone. If it’s
very slow, then you can take your time, chat a bit longer, hold off on your second round of samples. You
can play games or give out raffle tickets if you have any. Walk through the crowd and hand out key
chains, stickers, etc.
Do not leave samples or sample bottles out in the open. Do not let anyone touch the sample bottles.
** Before you pour a sample, please ask for ID on anyone who looks younger than 45. **
Pictures
Pictures are a very important part of the job. We need pictures for the job to be complete. The liquor
company we are representing expects great pictures. They want to see people enjoying/ sampling/
buying their products. They want to see the model representing their brand. We want to see the
following pictures:
-
Both Promo models together
Bartender pouring a drink
Group shot with swag
Signage of the event
Interacting with customers
Please review your pictures as you take them. We don’t want to see red eye, closed eyes, blurry, etc.
We do not want to see competitor’s brands in the pictures.
** please have your phone or camera charged.
End of Shift
5 minutes before your shift ends, start your clean-up. Ask the staff if they can look up your total sales.
Sometimes a bar cannot give you an accurate count of drinks sold. You will need to use your best
judgment. If you do a great job, stores will personally request you in the future.
Left over sample bottles
Remember to take sample bottles back with you. At your next pick-up, you will exchange your bottles.
Safety Plan
If you feel un-safe, you may ask someone from the bar staff to walk you to your car. If you have an issue
with a customer inside the bar, notify the staff immediately.
Recap
The recap will be provided for you to fill out. It will need to be submitted no later than 72 hours after
your promotion. It needs to be emailed to both Sherry and Amy. Please include your pictures in the
same email.
If we don’t receive your recap within 72 hours, Fly Foxx will deduct from your earnings on that event. If
we don’t receive your recap at all, you will not be paid for the event.
Payment
You must work the entire time you were scheduled to receive full payment.
You must turn in your recap through the website within 72 hours to receive full payment.
Payment is sent via check in the mail 30 - 45 days after your promotion.
