Hey!
Welcome to Pitzer! My name is Hernan, your mentor for this
fall, along with Keon! We’ll be here to greet you when you
arrive to the residence halls and provide support you
through your transition to Pitzer! We’ll be working alongside
your Resident Assistant (RA), Diego, to work toward having
your experience in the residence halls be a positive one.
I’m from Oakland, CA and I’m a rising senior studying
Environmental Analysis and French. This is my second year
as a New Student Mentor and I’m really excited to do it
again! Apart from my studies, I’m involved in the First Gen
program, Latinx Student Union, and the Redford
Conservancy at Pitzer. Also, I love working with the
communities outside of Pitzer, like local high schools and a
community garden. I like alternative rock and rock in
Spanish, and I like to crochet.
I hope that you’re excited to be at Pitzer (but it’s okay to be
nervous, too)! You’ll get to know the place quickly and you’ll
have me, along with the other Residence Life team on our
floor, to support you! The Claremont Colleges are a fun
place to be because of the tons of classes to take, tons of
clubs to join, and tons of events to attend. There’s definitely
a lot to check out here that you would possibly be interested
in!
