
Mother: Giulia Ammannati

Siblings: Galileo was the eldest of the six kids.


Interesting Fact: Father of modern science, he made
major contributions to the fields of math and science.
BACKGROUND


In 1581, he went to the University of Pisa to become a doctor, but decided
to study math instead.
In 1583, he described the rules that control the movement of pendulums.

In 1610, he built an improved telescope and used it to study planets and
stars. He discovered four moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, the phases
of Venus, sunspots and the rugged surface of the moon.

He proved that the Sun is the center of the solar system, and not the Earth.

He proved that objects dropped from the same point fall at the same speed
even if one is heavier than the other.

Two of his published books: Starry Messenger, The Assayer, etc.
STRENGTHS
 He
 He
 He
was courageous.
had perseverance.
never guessed and liked to prove
using math and science.
 He said that one should have desire
to learn and that is the beginning of
genius.
PROBLEMS

When he proved that the sun was the center of the solar
system, the church disagreed with his theory, and forbid
him to write or teach. Galileo did not listen. He was put
under house arrest. He could not invite people over, and
could not send his writings out. But Galileo continued to
work and study. He did not just do experiments, but also
measured the results and used math to compare them.
That way, he could tell which experiments had better results
than others.
 Galileo lacked funds. He used his income to support his
three kids, his mother, and helped take care of his brother
and his family. He was a kind and giving man.
SELF-REGULATION

the facts as he did not believe in guesses.
 He proved with the help of math and science that
the sun was the center of the solar system.
 The church disagreed with his theory, and forbid him to
write or teach about his work. Galileo did not listen.
 He was put under house arrest. But Galileo
continued to work, study and do experiments.

INSPIRATION TO OTHERS

he did not give up on his dream to become a
mathematician.
 Even though he was house arrested by the
church and forbidden to write, he continued to
research.
 Even though he was short of funds, he used his
