Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 3.0 liter ‐ Engine Oil Change Procedure Step 1 Put suspension in off‐road mode 2 Step 2 Remove drain bolt with a 14mm socket Tip This type of drain will cause oil to splash everywhere if you don't use some sort of shield. A cut up washer fluid container works well. Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 3.0 liter ‐ Engine Oil Change Procedure Step 3  Wrap shop rag around oil filter housing.  Loosen the oil filter cap with a 1‐1/16" socket.  Don't pull the cap completely off, unscrew just past the threads and tilt the cap slightly sideways.  This will break the vacuum on oil trapped in the cap.  To separate the filter from the cover, hold the oil filter cover and push down on the base of the oil filter to separate it from the cover. Then, remove the oil filter. Step 4 Replace the oil drain plug then lower the truck to entry/exit mode Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 3.0 liter ‐ Engine Oil Change Procedure Step 5  Replace the oil filter cap O‐ring with the new one supplied with the filter. Discard old O‐ring.  The new filter will snap into the cap. Don't forget to lubricate the new oil filter cap O‐ring.  Tighten cap to 18 ft. lbs. (25 N‐m) TIP ‐ Use a 1/4" tube to syphon used oil that was left in the filter housing. Should be an ounce or less. Synthetic Oil 10.5 quarts‐  SAE 5W‐30 Synthetic, API Certified Low Ash  Only use ACEA C3 5W‐30 Synthetic Low Ash engine oil meeting Chrysler material standard MS‐11106.
