PARSHAS BO 4 Shevat 5776 January 14, 2016 7th Grade News Reported by Meira Tova Cohen The 7th grade has learned so much this year, and the year isn’t even over! In Chumash with Mrs. Pinkus, we are learning how to decipher Rashi. In Ivrit, we have been perfecting our skills so that we can start to learn a new part of the language. With Mrs. Abowitz, we learned that Navi can teach us many lessons. We have explored many challenging questions. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us. 7th Grade News Reported by Baila Kost 7th Grade Chanukah was the best! We did so many things and learned so much. On the first day of Chanukah we made cookbooks with Mrs. Pinkus to present to our mothers. Everyone contributed a recipe and we made envelopes out of thick, pretty paper to hold the recipes. It was fun and pretty! Tuesday night we had a Leil Limud night of learning. Our mothers, grandmothers, aunts or sisters were invited and we learned together. We presented a song production with a bunch of Israeli Chanukah songs put together by Morah Abowitz. On Wednesday, we went ice-skating and ate donuts. It was so fun! On Thursday, we had a brunch with lots of yummy food. Thank you to Mrs. Porush and Mrs. Feiler for sponsoring. Thank you Mrs. Abowitz and Mrs. Pinkus for making this Chanukah the best ever! 4th Grade News Ivrit News Reported by Rabbi Spector Rabbi Spector’s Ivrit classes are really booming! Some of the exciting things include but are not limited to practicing Hebrew skits and dialogues, memorizing sayings with their translations, becoming more fluent in vocabulary words and phrases, practicing ordering foods in a restaurant or a pizza shop using dictionaries, and using Chrome books to create their own sentences and translating songs into Ivrit. Rabbi Spector is talking to us more and more in Hebrew and expecting more Hebrew from us. We’re on our way to a totally Ivrit Play, or a complete “Ivrit Class in Hebrew” day! Kol Hakavod l’kol Talmidei Ivrit b’kitot zayin v’chet! 5th Grade News Reported by Chanie Shenker and Kira Strick In Mrs. Schur’s class we finally got to do the fun pages we have been working on. Each set of partners was assigned 2 lists of Ivrit words to make a fun page. There was matching, unscrambling, word searches, and more. We are almost finished with Perek Vov in Navi! Reported by Hadassah Altman, Deena Weil, and Shuli Falk On Monday it was Rosh Chodesh and we had a special treat. We had Rosh Chodesh cupcakes! There were chocolate with mint icing or caramel, lemon with vanilla frosting, and a chocolate dreidel with coconut. They were delicious! We have finished all the Klallim for Kriyah! We are so excited to move on to the next book in Kriyah. We also had our dress rehearsal for Shiras Devorah on Monday. On Tuesday we had our real show for Shiras Devorah. Then everyone found their family and they went to their classroom to have the cast party. There was a lot of food to eat and everyone enjoyed it. We are looking forward to hearing Shiras Devorah read in Shul next Shabbos for the Haftorah. We will get a special prize after vacation from Mrs. Dubovick if we hear the Haftorah in Shul. Have a great vacation and Shabbos! PARSHAS BO 4 Shevat 5776 January 14, 2016 6th Grade News Reported by Mrs. Spiliopoulos ...And the Rosh Chodesh Raffle Winner in Mrs. Reiss's class is... Aliza Rosen!!! WE are so happy for you :) Dian Fossey, Galileo Galilei, and Steve Irwin were all very impressive scientists. In December the 6th graders were each assigned a famous scientist to research. The students gathered information from the Web and presented their findings in a Google slide show. This week, the 6th graders shared their outstanding slide shows with their classmates. They had a marvelous time learning about all the different scientists, and the great contributions that they made to the science world. Way to go 6th grade!!!! 4th Grade News Reported by Miss Garen In Miss Garen's fourth grade boys reading class, we had a 3 week unit on the story of the Titanic! We read articles about the creation of the Titanic, the unfortunate sinking, and some survivors' stories of their experience on the Titanic! We then worked in small groups to do a "scoot" station activity. We each received our very own ticket to "go aboard" the Titanic, and were randomly chosen to either be a part of first, second, or third class. In our "classes" we were given pictures and artifacts from the Titanic and had to be detectives to try and figure out what the artifacts were and how they related to the Titanic. Our class LOVED this unit and want to share with you pictures from our "scoot" station experience on the Titanic! 4th Grade News Reported by Devorah Winner and Esti Aronson Hi! How was your week? This week in room 405, we were practicing songs and motions for Shiras Devorah. Our presentation was Tuesday morning, and everyone did great! With Mrs. Whisler, we started oceanography. In reading, we just finished The Hundred Dresses book, and last Friday we made our own dresses with real material! See you in the Yediot after vacation! Have a good Shabbos! 4th Grade News Reported by Yona Kaufman and Baylee Ashkanazy We’ve been very busy in Mrs. Camras’s class. In math we are continuing with long division and estimating with decimals. We’ve been learning about plankton, seaweed and the different zones in oceanography. Last Friday, we designed our dresses using fabric and trim which we brought from home. They turned out so gorgeous! Our spelling test this week is in cursive. Have a great winter break and a good Shabbos.
