Arethereanyphysicalrequirements?
• No.Wedonothaveaheighttoweightrequirement,noristhereamaximumorminimum
weightrequirement.Youshouldlookwell-proportionedindancewearasaleanfigureis
demandedbyouruniforms.
• Cheerleadingisaphysicallydemandingoccupationandyoushouldbeinexcellentphysical
shapeandabletomasteravarietyofdifferentdancestyles.
• Youmustbeabletopassaphysicalexamdemonstratingyourhealthtoperformtheessential
jobfunctions.Adrugtestforrecreationaldrugswhichcouldinterferewithyourperformance
and/orendangerthesafetyofyouorthosearoundyouisrequired.
Whatskillsarerequired?
• Dance,cheer,orgymnasticstrainingisaplus.DetroitLionscheerleadersareperformerswho
danceusingavarietyofdifferentdancestyles.Ourroutinesdonotincludevocalsorstunts.
• WhileahighschooldiplomaorG.E.D.isarequirement,additionalconsiderationwillbegiven
toprofessionalsand/orstudentspursuinganadvanceddegree.
• Successfulapplicantswillbemotivatedself-starterswhohaveeffectivecommunicationskills
andarepoisedandwell-spoken.
• Youmustbeabletoworkwithothersinateamenvironmentanddemonstrateanabilitytotake
directionandlearnchoreographedroutinesquickly.
WhatisthetimecommitmentifImakethesquad?
• DetroitLionscheerleadersareexpectedtoattendeveryrehearsal(approximatelythreehours,
threeeveningsaweek)andafulldayonhomegamedays(10peryear),includingreportingto
thestadiumseveralhoursbeforegametime.Outoftowntraveltoroadgamesisnotrequired,
butmayberequestedforanypost-seasongames.
• Pre-seasontrainingsessions,businessseminars,photoshoots,etc.arealsorequired.
• Eachcheerleadershouldplantobeavailableforconsiderationtobebookedonappearances
throughouttheyear.Mandatoryteamappearanceswillbecommunicatedinadvance.

Youmaynotbeemployedorperformforanyotherprofessionalorcollegedanceor
cheerleadingteamorbeemployedbyanagency.EachDetroitLionsCheerleaderwillbe
requiredtosignbothaconfidentialityandnon-disparagementagreementandanon-compete

WerecommendcandidateslivewithinareasonabledrivingdistanceofDetroit,Michigansuch
thatyouareabletoattendpracticesandgamesonatimelybasis.
AlthoughthejobasaDetroitLionsCheerleadersisaverybigcommitment,mostcheerleaders
holdotherparttimeorfulltimejobsand/orattendcollege.
HowamIcompensatedandarethereoutsideexpenses?
• Eachcheerleaderispaidhourlyforrehearsals,gamedaysandappearances.
• Uniformsareloanedtoyouforthedurationofyouremployment.Otheressentialsand
rehearsalgearmaybeprovided.
• DetroitLionsCheerleadersareexpectedtohavedependabletransportationandbearthe
expenseofcommutingtorehearsalsandgames.Mileagetocommunityorcharitableeventsis
reimbursedatthen-prevailingIRSrates.
Areauditionsopentothepublic?
• No,auditionsareclosedtothepublic,familyandfriends.
Howmanyauditionroundsarethere?
• Therearefourauditionrounds.Thearethreedance/cheerperformanceonlyandoneface-tofaceinterviewsession.

Unfortunately,itisaliveauditionduetothefactthatwehavetoseehowcandidatesperformin
alivesetting;thegamesaresuchabigdealsowehavetoreplicatethatintheliveaudition

The interviews will be Monday during the day with the final dance round in the evening. It is a required
day for those who make it past semi-finals.
I can't make the first day of auditions, can I send a video or try out another time? Unfortunately, no.
