January 2016 GYM HAWKS NEWS REMINDER: Please keep all belongings and spectators in the bleachers at all times. We ask that you DO NOT cross the sanctions for any reason. Thank you! Dates to Remember: January 28th- Warhawk Home Meet vs. Eau Claire @ 4pm February 18- Warhawks Home Meet vs. Oshkosh @ 4:30pm March 18- Last day of Spring 1 session April 3- First day of Spring 2 Session CC, Bekah, Jenna, Carmen, Falyn, and Mickie from the level 3 team pose during a meet early in the season. Gymhawks Competitive Team: After the success of our fall season, our compulsory gymnasts are back in the gym working hard to improve! It is time for our optional gymnasts to shine at competitions! Our optional gymnasts will begin their official season on January 27th in Franklin, WI. With a tam of six level 6 gymnasts and a team of two level 7 gymnasts, we look to see improvements all around from last year! In our last edition we mentioned highlights from our compulsory state meet. Somehow, we mistakenly left out one important accomplishment. Level 3, Rebekah Powers also finished 3rd on floor at state. Congrats Bekah and keep up the great work! We're excited to see what new skills all of our compulsory athletes will achieve during their off season. 1 Recreational Gymnast of the Month: Sophie Lonsdale Sophie is in our MiniHawks class. She is a star listener is always very attentive. Sophie has made a lot of progress and works hard to improver everyday. Way to go Sophie! January 2016 WINTER WEATHER POLICY With winter upon us, in inclement weather we will be closing in conjunction with the Whitewater Unified School District. You will be notified via e-mail if the gym is closed and it will be posted on the Facebook page. Thank you! Team Gymnast of the Month: Annabelle Wilke Annabelle is a level 6 on the GymHawk team. She is a silent hard worker. She comes in with a positive attitude every single day. She asks a lot of questions, advocates for herself well and sets an amazing example with her work ethic. Awesome job Annabelle! Warhawk Gymnastics Team The Warhawk gymnastics team opened its season this past weekend in Menomenee, WI at UW- Stout. The Warhawks took home the conference win with a score of 187.50. Leading the Warhawks was senior Katie Fiorilli with a 37.500 in the all-around. Fiorilli also lead the Warhawks on vault with a 9.625 and on the uneven bars with a 9.375. Senior Courtney Picket lead the Warhawks on floor with a 9.675 and the balance beam with a 9.575. Lisa O’Donnell tied with Pickett on the balance beam. The Warhawks are headed to St. Peter, MN on January 21 before returning home to the Kris Russell Gymnasium on January 28th for their first home meet at 4pm.
