• Use only outdoor extension cords with molded
plugs and sockets
• Keep lights off carpet, furniture and drapes
• When hanging lights on your roof or in trees, stay
at least 10 feet away from overhead power lines
• Keep all electrical connections off the ground and
hang sockets downward to prevent water from
seeping into them
• Don’t use more than three sets of standard lights
on each extension cord
• Make sure household smoke detectors are
working properly

lamps through energy efficiency upgrades
A recent study by the Economy League of Greater
Philadelphia, “Powering the Economy,” found
that PECO:
• Generated an estimated economic impact of
approximately $4.3 billion across Pennsylvania.
• Generated 8,700 jobs and $732 million in
labor income
• Contributed $6.5 million to charities and
nonprofits.
• Logged 14,900 employee volunteer hours with
local charitable organizations
• Installed an automated, energy efficient HVAC system
• Created a 45,000 square foot green roof, which mitigates
storm water runoff and reduces energy usage for heating
and cooling
• Updated PECO’s Crown Lights with energy-efficient LED
technology
Together, these improvements reduce energy usage by
7.25 million kilowatt-hours per year.
