GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS
A. TERMS:
1. “CONTESTANT BAND” shall mean a band consisting of a minimum of 3 members, inclusive
of the composer/s collaborating in one (1) Entry
2. “ENTRY” shall mean one (1) song composition and one (1) cover song
B. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. The Competition is open to all bands (amateur or professional) nationwide.
C. NUMBER OF ENTRIES: A contestant band must submit only one (1) entry.
D. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT FOR SONGS:
1. Each entry must be an original composition of at least one of the members of the
CONTESTANT BAND and all rights of copyright to the entry must be owned exclusively by
the composers(s).
2. The following compositions shall not be eligible as entries:
a) Those which have been previously published, recorded or released in any part of the
world;
b) Those which have been commissioned by a third party;
c) Those which are found to contain two (2) or more bars of melody or lyrics similar to that
of a published or released song in the Philippines or abroad; and
d) Any entry which in the sole determination of the competition committee is not
suitable by reason of content.
3. Lyrics
a) The lyrics must be in Filipino, Bisaya, any Filipino Vernacular or English or a combination
of any.
b) If the lyrics include a word which does not have a general and accepted definition, the
contestant must explain the basis for including the word through a footnote in the lyric
sheets.
c) The song’s lyrics should include the word “TAGUMPAY” and should be relevant to this
year’s Tunog Tagum Songwriting Battle of the Bands Theme “Halo-halo, iba – iba ngunit
iisa”.
e) The entry should contain no vulgar language or sexually explicit content.

4. Form and length of Entries:
a) The CONTESTANT BAND must submit one (1) accomplished entry form for one (1) entry.
b) The melody and lyrics of an ENTRY shall be final once submitted, and may not be changed
or amended before the selection of the Finalists. A song selected as Finalist may be
modified subject to the prior approval of the MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL Competition
Committee.
5. Entries submitted to MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL shall not be returned.
ENTRY FORMS:
Entry forms are available for pick-up at the:
Tagum City Tourism Office, 4th floor New City Hall Building, J.V. Ayala Ave., Apokon, Tagum
City, Davao del Norte,
ENTRY SUBMISSION:
1. Entry forms should be submitted on or before February 14, 2017, Friday
a) Via email through [email protected] or [email protected]
b) Via hand-delivery to Tagum City Tourism Office 4th floor Tagum City New City Hall and look
for Ermar Ybañes or Nik Jun Barrientos, Tourism Office Event Counterpart
2. Each entry should be composed of:
a) Complete accomplished entry form;
b) Recent band photo (JPEG file only)
c) Lyric sheet (.docx file only)
• The song file must be identified only with the correct title of the song. The composer must
not be identified in any way. MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL reserves the right to modify the title of
the song file should it not comply with this requirement.
d) Scanned Proof of Identification and residency per band member; (ID’s with addresses are
preferable)
G. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS:
1. All entries are deemed to be the properties of the respective Contestant/s, subject to the rights
of MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL hereunder.
2. MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL shall have the right to use any of the songs chosen as finalist, free of
charge, for the duration of the Competition, and after the competition, in connection with the
airing, broadcast, and/or promotion of the competition on any and all media.
3. Contestants declared as finalists have the same rights as above mentioned
H. LIVE ON -STAGE SCREENING:
1. The live on stage Screening will be on February 20 – 22, 2017, 6:00 o’clock in the evening
onwards at Tagum City New City Hall Arena.
2. TEN (10) Bands with the highest score will be chosen during the Three (3) day Live On-stage
screening
3. Criteria for Judging:
 60% Composition
 40% Cover song

FINALISTS
The Ten (10) Official Finalists will be chosen from the Live On-stage screening

GRAND FINALS
1. The TEN (10) official finalists will perform their entry song together with 1 cover
song
2. Scores in the live performance screening will have no bearing during the Grand
Finals

4. Each of the TEN (10) finalist is allowed to be on stage for fifteen (15) minutes,
inclusive of their set-up and performance
5. A finalist must signify when they are about to play their Composition for judges’
information.
K. DISQUALIFICATION:
1. An Entry or Contestant may be disqualified for failure of the Entry or Contestant to
comply with any of the rules and regulations, requirements, a violation of any of these
rules, or breach of the warranties provided herein.
2. Specific rules on disqualification (Especially during the On Stage Battle Event):
a) A band borrowing any member from other competing bands is subject to
disqualification.
b) Misbehavior during the contest is ground for disqualification.
c) Performances that exhibit nudity and sexually explicit behavior are ground for
disqualification.
d) Only the Event Chairperson is authorized to disqualify a CONTESTANT BAND

WARANTIES:
1. Contestant warrants and represents that Contestant is under no disability, restriction or
prohibition, to execute this Agreement, or which may interfere with the ability of
Contestant to deliver its obligations hereunder.
2. The Contestant warrants that the entry/ies submitted by him/her/them are his/her/their
sole and original work, and that there exists no adverse claims to or in said
Composition/s. The Contestant further warrants that neither the Composition nor any part
thereof infringes upon the literary, musical, personal or property rights of any person, or
entity.
3. Contestant agrees to fully indemnify, save and hold MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL free and
harmless from any and all damages arising out of, or in connection with, any claim by a
third party that is inconsistent herewith. In the event that a claim, suit, or action is brought
against MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL, or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, it shall notify
Contestant thereof and shall allow Contestant to participate in the defense thereof.
Contestant shall fully reimburse all expenses incurred by MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL for any
and all damages it may be required to pay by reason thereof.
4. Should the infringement be proven, the Contestant shall return any and all prize monies paid to
him/her/them, with interest thereon at the legal rate until fully paid. MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL
shall, likewise, have the right to withdraw the prize and to award the prize to the Entry with the
next highest result. Should it be proven that the infringement is willful; Contestant shall be liable
for actual and exemplary damages, including attorney’s fees.
5. MUSIKAHAN FESTIVAL, its subsidiaries and affiliates, the judges and the members of the
Competition Committee shall not be liable for any claim by any third party in connection with the
ownership of copyright to an Entry submitted to the Competition.

O. SCHEDULES:
1. Deadline for submission of Entry is on February 14, 2017, 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the
Tagum City Tourism Office, 4th floor New City Hall Bldg., Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
2. Live performance screening is on February 20 – 22.
3. General Orientation is on February 15, 2017, 8:00 o’clock in the morning at Tagum City
Tourism Office.
4. Grand Finals is on February 27, 2017, 8:00 o’clock in the evening at Tagum City New City
Hall Grand Arena.
