Year 3 Homework Week beginning 6th March 2017 Spelling: Each week you need to learn the spelling words we give you on your homework sheet. The words are on the other side of this sheet. Maths: Please check both tasks from now on. Task 1: Use your IXL username and password to practice IXL. Please do at least 20 minutes practice every week. Kat’s group Maeve’s group Robin’s group Choose any four from J H4, H5, J2, J3 H4, H5, J2 Your IXL password and username is stuck inside your homework book. Ask your teacher if you have a problem logging on to IXL. Task 2: You need to be secure in your times tables knowledge. Kat’s group Maeve’s group Robin’s group Learn the 12 times tables this week for a test Practise the 3 and 4 times tables Practise the 3 times tables Reading: You should be reading for 20 minutes every day. Remember to fill in your home school reading log. Project: You can begin your new project and it is due on Friday 24th March 2017. You have a new record sheet for your project, you don’t have to complete this until the end. Things to Remember Tuesday- Outdoor P.E. Kit (3K). Indoor P.E. and Swimming Kit (3M). Friday - Bring in homework and reading log. Don’t forget that on 16th March, Year 3 will be visiting Waterstones Bookshop. Please could you let Maeve or Kat know if you will be able to accompany the class. Spelling words This week’s words to learn are in the table below. Some words end in –gue what sounds like a hard g. Some words end in –que which sounds like a had c. LASACASAWAC This stands for Look And Say And Cover And Say And Write And Check. It is a really good idea to SAY the words you are learning to spell! Do this 3 times for each word, using a table in your book Le]a]̸e Ton]̸e Pl]a]̸e Pl]a]•¸e An[t[i]•¸e Un[i]•¸e Pi]c[t[u[µÖ¡]•¸e Te]c[h[n[i]•¸e CHALLENGE: Can you find any more words that end in –gue or –que? English contains many words that come from other languages at some point in the past. Can you find out where some of these words come from?
