The position of Business Development Executive has been identified in DBS. The role will have
responsibility for development and management of successful and profitable relationships with our
corporate clients, including both private sector and public sector organisations. This will be done
through sourcing of funding and developing relationships in the corporate market.
The Business Development Executive will have a key role in our continuing successful
development. He/she will report directly to the Director of Admissions and Marketing for line
management and will have a high level of day-to-day autonomy in discharging his/her
responsibilities. He/she will present and review plans and performance reports with the Director of
Marketing & Admissions and/or other Senior Management on a regular basis and will contribute to
evolving strategies for future student recruitment in the corporate and professional area.
Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of the Business Development Executive will include the following:











Identify opportunities to develop new or existing business across the range of products, both
public and in house.
Responsible for identifying and developing relationships in key organisations in all potential
corporate markets.
Responsible for identifying new business opportunities with the corporate market.
Proactively pursue BD opportunities by means of telephone, email or other contact
(including face to face when required) with prospective or existing clients; negotiating and
securing contracts for new business.
Answer all incoming calls promptly and courteously.
Follow up all possible sales leads and convert into sales where possible.
Make outgoing sales calls to potential clients for specified courses/programmes and
campaigns.
Attend internal and external meetings and pitches as required by business and team.
Achieve sales targets as set by the business.
Provide effective and professional account management to key and other clients, as
required.
Identifying and sourcing funding for the development of growth for student recruitment
from employer organisations in both the private and public sectors for programmes at DBS.




Formulation and implementation of strategies and plans for development of corporate
relationships and growth of student recruitment from employer organisations in both the
private and public sectors.
Seek and maintain an up to date knowledge of the corporate market, competitive activity
and customer issues to inform business planning.
To prepare regular reports on the BD developments for the Director of Marketing and
Admissions and/or other senior management as requested.
Ad hoc duties as required by Management.
The Person
The person appointed will be a graduate and will have management experience and achievement in
a business to business environment and can demonstrate evidence of achieving sales targets.
He/she will have a high level of self-motivation, will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and
relationship management skills in a wide range of situations, and will have the capacity to work in
partnership with colleagues and clients in identifying opportunities, developing responses and
facilitating solutions.
He/she will have knowledge and understanding of the third level educational sector and of the
strategic role of HR and HRD in supporting career development and contributing to the development
of organisations and the achievement of organisational goals.
