Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

the newsletter in your child’s bookbag.
Home School Agreement-FS, KS1, KS2
Thank you to everyone that has returned this to school. If you have not yet returned this, please
could you do so on Monday, 28th September. We will be starting to chase these up next week. If
there is anything you would like to discuss before signing the agreement, please contact the
school office and arrange an appointment to come in and discuss this with me. Thank You.
End of the school day-FS, KS1, KS2
Thank you to everyone that has filled in the reply slip and sent it back into school. If your child is in
years 5 or 6 and you want them to walk out of school on their own, you must return the slip by
Monday 28th September. If we do not have the slip giving your child permission to leave school on
their own by this date, they will not be allowed to leave until we have contacted you by
telephone. Thank you for your support in this matter regarding the health and safety of the
children.
The Back Gate-FS, KS1, KS2
We are noticing that on a number of occasions that the back gate to the school is being left open.
Please could we make sure that the gate is shut once you have come through it. It is crucial for the
safety of your children that we ensure that the school site is secure. If the gate continues to be left
open we will need to look at this not being a means of entry and exit into the school and have the
gate permanently locked. I thank you for your help and support in this matter regarding the
health and safety of your children.
School Uniform-FS, KS1, KS2
The new school uniform is on sale on a Monday morning at 9.00am and on a Friday afternoon at
3.00pm. A massive thank you to Kirsty Madgwick for giving up her time to sell the uniforms.

Italian Day-FS, KS1, KS2
On Thursday 1st October we are going to have an ‘Italian Day ‘ in school. We are asking that the
children come to school in red, green and white. The day will start with an assembly with Ms
Agostini, our Italian teacher, and then the children will be carrying out lots of different Italian
themed activities in the classroom. School lunch on this day will be Italian themed, unfortunately,
unless your child is entitled to Free School Meals or you have already ordered a hot lunch for that
day, it is no longer possible to order one. However you can obviously provide your child with an
Italian themed packed lunch and we will be having some Italian foods in the classrooms on this
day. (This is for children from Reception to year 6, not Nursery)
Free School Meals-FS, KS1, KS2
As you may be aware, all chidlren in the EYFS and KS1 are entitled to a free school meal through
the government’s universal free school meals scheme. However if you think that your child is
entitled to free school meals beyond this scheme, or you think that they might be, please contact
the school office as the school are able to access funding for these children. Thank You.
Children’s Birthdays-FS, KS1, KS2
We really do not want to be killjoys and it is lovely that cakes, sweets get sent in to share with the
class on your child’s birthday, but please could we ask that whatever you send in is individually
wrapped so that we can send it home with the children. We are happy to give out sweets or cakes
at the end of the day so that the parents can then decide if they want their children to have it.
Therefore can we ask that cakes that need to be cut up do not get sent into school as unwrapped
individual pieces of cake are impossible to send home with the children.
Contacts-FS, KS1, KS2
It is crucial that the office have up to date contact details for mums, dads and carers. There will be
a form coming home, please could you make sure that you fill it in and return it to the office ASAP.

Parent’s Forum-FS, KS1, KS2
The Parent’s Forum is a really valuable way to gain the views of the parents, as the school and the
parents working together is a crucial factor in moving the school forward. The parent’s forum
meets half-termly. Thank you to the parents that have put their names forward at the office. If
you would still like to be on the parent’s forum please put your name forward at the office. I will
be contacting parents to arrange a date and time for the first meeting before half term.
Clubs-KS1,KS2
Due to a number of children stating an interest in carrying on with the after school football club
this year we have contacted Brighton and Hove. When we receive the relevant information from
them we will let you know and hopefully we can get the football club up and running again!
Bag2 School-FS, KS1, KS2
Start bagging up those old clothes etc. Our next Bag2 School collection is on Thursday 15th
October-more information to follow.
Parents Meetings-FS, KS1, KS2
Dates for your diary! The parent’s meetings for the Autumn term will take place on Wednesday
21st October between 3.15pm and 5.15pm and on Thursday 22nd October between 5.00pm and
7.00pm. Details on sign- up sheets to follow nearer the time.
Water Bottles-FS, KS1, KS2
We have noticed that a number of children have got squash in their water bottles that they have for drinks
in the classroom. Although squash is allowed for a lunchtime drink, it is not allowed in the classrooms
during the day. The children should only have water in the classrooms during the day. If they do not have
water in the classroom they will not be allowed to drink this and will be offered water from the taps. Thank
you for your support in this matter.
Times of the School Day-KS1, KS2
8.15am Breakfast Club (Please do not arrive in school any earlier than 8.15am as there is no
supervision until this time)
Please Note: The latest time that Breakfast club will serve food is 8.40am.
8.35am Doors Open
8.45am Doors Shut (any children arriving after this time to come in the main doors and to be
signed in at the office)
3.00pm Children in Years 1 – 4 come out of their back doors, Years 5 and 6 come out of their main
doors (Teachers are then available for approx. 10 minutes)
Car Services - FS, KS1, KS2
We have set up a link with Rew Auto Services Ltd based in Lavant. Rew is an ex-pupil of the school
and the son of Pam Reed, one of our teaching assistants. Any parents who use their services will
receive 5% off of their bill and the school will receive 1% of any business that comes from

interested please come into the school office and they will be able to issue you with a Customer
Reward Card.
