The Presidential Restaurant Group was created by Alan
Popovsky and Melvyn J. Estrin in 2011, with the opening of
LINCOLN Restaurant. In 2013, they inaugurated their second

the objectives and goals that he and Estrin set out to
accomplish.

THE EMANCIPATION ROOM
LINCOLN’s Emancipation Room features beautiful hardwood flooring constructed
of recycled barn wood from several farms in New England. The Emancipation
Proclamation is inscribed on the wall in front of LED lighting, making it glow
brilliantly in changing colors. Mason jars hang from the ceiling to serve as a
chandelier; they represent how things were packaged and preserved during the mid
to late 1800s – union soldiers were given their food rations in small mason jars that
were carried around on their person.

THE FLAG ROOM
The Flag Room at LINCOLN contains a unique art installation by Maggie O’Neill.
The flag on the wall is a nod to the American pop artist Jasper Johns and was
inspired by his “Flags” released in 1954. The flag is made out of metal, plaster,
newspaper (Washington Post), and other organic materials. The room consists of
the same hardwood floors and mason jar chandeliers as the Emancipation Room.
